In true Eddie Halliwell style, the travelling hero returns to The Gallery on Friday 16th February to fire up the dancefloor like only he can. Best known for his energetic sets of turntable trickery, Eddie has been the prince of clubland for many a year now – remaining high in the Top 20 of DJ Mag’s Top 100 poll for another year on the bounce. Since emerging as Judge Jules’ tip for the top all those many moons ago, Eddie has fast become a superstar in his own right. His stature is now so big in fact that he regularly programmes and hosts his own ‘Fire It Up’ parties all over the world – including at The Gallery, plus he after two years of grooming, he now hosts his very own Radio 1 show. The Gallery faithful come out in force when Eddie’s in town, so expect more queues round the block this week. Joining Eddie in the main room will be Andy Moor – who’s signed to Armin Van Buuren’s Armada Music label. The young man is already a veteran of the industry having worked for some of the biggest labels and artists in the scene including Tiesto, Paul Oakenfold, Armin Van Buuren and Arthur Baker no less. When not DJing solo, you might know Andy from his other musical partnerships - Tilt (Parks, Wilson and Moor), Leama & Moor or Whiteroom, but it’s on his own that we’re interested in as he plays his first Gallery set of 2007. So too does Recycled Loops’ top dog Valentino Kanzyani – one of Slovenia’s biggest musical exports. As well as spinning techno and house on three decks across the world to huge crowds and acclaim he has released a barrage of dancefloor anthems for labels such as Primevil, Yoshi Toshi, Intec, Wet Musik, Tronic, Primate and Consumer Recreation as well as releases on his own Recycled Loops label, which he co-runs with Umek. Dutch trancer Ronald Van Gelderen also plays together with Les Hemstock.
Over in T2, get ready for more ‘Adventures in International House Music’ courtesy of the Going Places crew who keep packing ‘em in every month. After January’s UK Residents special, February’s assault features the electronic excellence of Chopstick – the hotter than hot DJ/Producer from Berlin who debuts in the UK at The Gallery this week. The music press are all over this guy at the moment giving him rave reviews for his work, so make sure you check him out. GP resident Tania von Pear adds her own touch on proceedings with more of the same, backed up by former backroom resident Paul Barkworth from Smokey Beats.
Completing this Friday’s huge 3 room affair will be Soundworx who return to The Gallery after a 6 month gap to host their 5th Birthday. And what a line-up they’ve got planned too. For 5 years Soundworx has brought us the best underground talent from around the world, introducing the capital’s club scene to the likes of Wally Lopez, Chus & Ceballos, Victor Calderone, NRK DJs, King Unique and James Mowbray before anyone else did. Here though, Soundworx plum for DC10’s stalwarts Peace Division, whose below-counter house music has maintained them as leading lights for the more discerning dancefloor enthusiast for the best part of a decade. Joining them is Pete Gooding, one of Britain’s finest DJs and producers whose musical knowledge covers pretty much every electronic genre. He made his name in Ibiza, but Pete’s worldwide standing sees him gigging on a global basis every weekend - the world’s loss is the UK’s gain as he comes to Soundworx for a special birthday set. Finally, bringing up the rear are esteemed new bloods, Elektrik Haze, who’s move to London from the USA has caught headlines and ears alike, as their own productions and DJ sets have firmly made them ones to watch in 2007.
