MARCO BAILEY IS COMING TO THE LAST PARTY PROACTIVE OF 2007!

In a time of fragmentation and attempted unity, music is always the answer. We know that, even if others don’t, which is why DJs who can represent us hold dear. Marco Bailey is one who does. Seeing the crowd react to his music at our Party Proactive arena at this summer’s 070707 festival is the reason he’s been asked back to play for our last party of 2007. His set – energizing, intelligent and free of pretension – gave the tent the perfect party vibe and that’s exactly what we all did! But then, he is one of the world’s leading techno DJs…

DJing and making tracks since 1994, Belgium’s Number 1 techno DJ, Marco Bailey, has a history that reads like a dance music manual. A professional Motorcross and cyclist from the age of 14, a serious accident at 18 meant Marco’s energy turned to clubs and music and not even one year later he was rocking the coastal clubs of Belgium with funk and hip hop, later evolving to house.

Productions followed with his sound moving forward again to achieve early successes with trance tracks such as ‘This Is My Groove’ released on the legendary Bonzai label, and by the late 90s his techno sound began to emerge with releases on Zync, Subsounds and Primate, being the first artist to release an album on the Primate label. The late 90s saw the creation of the first of Marco’s label, Session Recordings, which he did alongside Marc Zzino. By 2000 Carl Cox had picked up on his talent and he became the third ever release on the then new Intec imprint. The same year Marco and his friend, the Spanish techno artist, Christian Varela, joined forces to create the hugely popular Pornographic Recordings. His labels MB Elektronics, set up in 2002 and MB Selektions in 2005, which release his own and tracks from producers such as Axel Karakasis, Eric Sneo, DJ Preach, Umek, and Claude Young followed.

Just as his labels reflect Marco’s love of differing techno styles his mix compilations and artist album -160 Minutes of Marco Bailey (2002), Positive Disorder (2004), Rude Boy (2004) and his latest, Live in Ageha Tokyo (2007) - all displayed a wide range of musical tastes within the world of techno. With a new album collaborating with friend Tom Hades in the pipeline, Marco’s ever developing style moves from minimal to maximal, always with, in his words, Bollox!

His appearance on DJ play lists over the years from Adam Beyer and Fergie to Jeff Mills and Sven Vath; guesting on radio shows across the world including the UK’s Radio 1; inclusion on a huge amount of compilations as diverse as Luke Slater’s, Fear and Loathing, Fabric 09, I ? Techno and Judge Jules Presents; and DJing at clubs and festivals across the globe from Tokyo to Russia, the Middle East and South America, all confirm Marco Bailey’s position as one of the world’s leading techno producers and DJs - his influence over the scene undeniable, his passion for what he does unmistakable.

On the 3rd November 2007, we welcome Marco’s return to Party Proactive for our Halloween spectacular at Turnmills - Kiss Kiss : Fright Night!
