This article is about Tiësto @ Victoria Park in London (UK), Fri 31 Jul
If you know your Techno in London, then Antony Difrancesco is probably a promoter that you'll know well. His legendary Sunday parties at Public Life each week have seen some of the best headline acts wanting to muscle in on the action. This Friday however, Don't Stay In and Lost Souls team up to present the 'Don't Stay In Techno Dance Floor' to 2000 music fanatics as part of the 'Tiësto in the Park' event. We talk to Antony about where Lost souls has come from, it's concept and a bit about his events.
1) Can you give us a bit of history about Lost Souls as a brand, it's origins, and the focus of where 2009 will see you take it?
Lost souls started out back in 2006 as a series of one off parties for friends however we're never content with staying still and are always on the persuit for the freshest most interesting sounds, 2009 will be about developing and expanding the label, and using it as a platform to voice our tastes and perspective towards electronic music.
Check out the latest LS Release..... (Available Digitally and on Vinyl)
Next release is from UK dubstep producer Sigha with a remix from one of my personal favorite artist, Marcel Dettmann (Ostgut Ton/Berghain, Berlin.) This is a very exciting release for Lost Souls so make sure you keep your eyes pealed for the release in the coming months.

2) Who have been the most frequently performing headliners alongside it's residents since it started?
I think a favourite of ours would undoubtedly be chris liebing, it's quite an honour to have someone of that calibre come to play for such an intimate setting. i think he really appreciated the honest energy of our club goers, and it just goes to show that you really can get anyone playin in the bog!
Here is the video of Chris playing for the first time at our party in Public Life....
3) Different clubbers can have very different perceptions of Techno as a style of music, and what sort of sound to associate to it. How would you describe the Lost Souls sound?
The lost souls sound is diverse as is reflected by our range of residents. we perceive it to be a real strength that we cover many aspects of electronic music, some of us are rooted in deep atmospheric techno, and others to rockin party music and others even dubstep. though i think the thing we share in common is that the music we play has to be engaging and interesting, and we use that to express ourselves so that our personality may come out. i think it's certainly true that different clubbers can have different perceptions of techno, but that's what techno has always been about, a big melting pot of different cultures and music but with a vision of the future and a wish to be groundbreaking in some way.
Here are some tracks i really like... this only represents part of the LS sound.
4) This Friday see's Lost Souls hosting to some 2000 clubbers at the Tiesto concert in Victoria Park. How are you and the crew preparing for the event?
well it's a lot of hard work, but hopefully it'll pay off, we're all really excited. the main thing is to focus on the music and give music fans an experience worth remembering. Hopefully we will be introducing Trance fans to some deep meaningful beats.
5) Tell us a little bit about the artists that you've pulled in for the Don't Stay In & Lost Souls Techno dance floor.
Well aside from some the LS residents, i have asked the Wet Yourself guys to come down to support. For those not familiar, WYS is the only place to be on a sunday night.. some of the best headliners, top quality residents, diverse fun crowd + being held at one of the worlds best clubs, Fabric. If that isn't an excuse to call in sick on a monday i really don't know what is.
To top it off we have brought over Dominik Eulberg who is an electronic music artist and DJ who has released numerous singles as well as full-length albums on labels such as Cocoon Recordings and Traum Schallplatten. Dominik is one of the key players in techno and his set is definitely not to be missed so make sure you come check him out in the DSI/Lost Souls tent from 9pm-11pm.
6) What new DJ technologies can you see breaking through this year in the techno scene?
To be honest i'm not too sure. My current set up is Traktor Scratch and a midi controller for the FX so I can see myself purchasing the NI Maschine soon. The Maschine is a new product from Native Instruments which can be sync up with Traktor, it acts like a drum machine so you can create loops and chuck in samples off the fly. Although i'd love too if i was to get it i don't think i would be using it whilst djing as I would need a second laptop to run it but it would definitely be put to use in my studio.
9) So apart from running a record label, DJing & putting on parties, what else do you do in your spare time?
Well apart from the above I work very closely with the Wet Yourself team working on brand management, artist management and promotion. The Wet Yourself Residents are very busy at the moment in the studio in preparation for the launch of their new label so it's very busy and exciting times for the guys and I.
I help run a company called Teachmix. Teachmix is a 'Teach yourself to mix' DJ product which is endorsed by MIX MAGS BEST DJ OF THE LAST 15 YEARS..... Carl Cox. Teachmix is the fastest teach yourself to mix DJ product out there. I have dealt with the the re-branding, marketing and have rewritten the manuals making it easier than ever.
The new improved Teachmix will be released at the beginning of september and if you would like to be a DJ but can't afford a set of decks we are currently giving a full set up away for free!!!
