LOUGHBOROUGH CLUBBING - "Pushing The Boundaries"

This article is about SOULFUNK @ La Piazza Lounge Bar in Loughborough (UK), Fri 16 Mar 2007

Loughborough was nothing, a little town full of chavs, cheesy clubs & a beehive for students all over the UK of which are attracted all famous "Sports Uni"... The clubs were grotty & nothing was played but chart hits & R'n'B...

However!!! 2006 took the local clubbing status to a whole new level, "JUNK" hosted major DJ's such as Stonebridge, Mark Doyle, Trophy Twins & many more... also on the pre-club bar route there was the launch of "SOULFUNK", a fresh funky house night that brings in the chic & sexy twist with rising DJ's such as Junior (Mn2S), Strakes (LostMyDog), Greg Dorban (Reelgroove) e.t.c...

As if that wasn't already enough, the launch of "RAPTURE" (owned by Nic Correlli of MYNC) has showcased leading acts: Fedde Le Grande, Chris Lake, Nic Fanciulli & many more...

All of the above has provided Loughborough with a praised clubbing route with something for both bar drinkers & major clubbers, which is no wonder that the town now attracts party people from surrounded citys (i.e: B'ham, Leics, Derby, Notts e.t.c...)

Loughborough is more than just a town - it's a thriving clubbing community, WATCH THIS SPACE!!!

LOCAL ESTABLISHED & UPCOMING DJ TALENTS INCLUDE:

JFK (live & loud)
MYNC PROJECT (Cr2 records)
MARC WEST (passion)
JONO ALLEN (junk)
STEVE G (soulfunk, housexy)
OLI WILLSON (junk)
& plenty more where that came from !!!

i cant see how its pushing boundaries, allthough the club scene is getting better, all thanks to dale in the downstairs room @ vice versa playing hard dance and occasionly hardcore music. But to me all the clubs round here play the same old cheesy shit,im no big fan of drum n bass but when it gets played i cant help but dance to it because its something different.
But anyway what my point is, is that clubs in Loughborough lack variety in music

Define cheesy shit please... Personally Hardcore and Hard Dance is my idea of hell. The fact of the matter is Loughborough isn't big enough to cater for every electronica lovers tastes. Considering the size of it, I think the town is doing ok.

And the free partys this summer are gonna be rocking.

All in all Loughborough is a little town and with that comes small minded attitudes to Dance/House/RnB/DnB.

I cant say a hats off enough to the likes of steve and the guys at rapture for trying to stretch the minds of house lovers in the Midlands.

Every1 needs music in their lives and in a small town as Loughborough, people should be willing to become a little more divers in their tastes and try out what your lovely little town has to offer.

Good show Steveo and let the summer festivities commence!!!!

Just wait till I'm back up there for my final year and we'll start a revolution. Lufbra students need to been shown that it is not ok to listen to the same shit "summer of 69" song every fucking night of the week!!

I say wee take over one of the old warehouses near the train station and turn it into a mega-suppa club :)

All we need is one club which will put on different nights during the week, bit of funk/dirt on wed, Hard style on a fri and minimal/techy on a sat.

Isnt JFK from Loughborough or am I thinking of Lutterworth. Perhaps you could get him in on it... he's an excellent promoter and could bring some good names given the right night/venue/crowd. Perhaps a Live n Loud does Loughborough night or summit

Second that... Unfortunatly 90% of students are dumb mofos and make up like 50% of the towns night life.

Think we should all (when I get back) find a club, some dj's and start our own night. I can warm up 6-8 (while there are no punters :)
