Starting My Own DeepHouseSessions called - 'HouseBucket'

Thought this would be a good venue to start a nice deephouse session once a month,
So who do I get in contact with, to discus?.

Liquid has been a commercial club. Ironically, its probably quite successful for a lot of people who really have no music preference and or are happy with commercial Rnb and commercial mainstream so called hip hop.

The main nights are friday and saturday, thats 4.5 weeks per month so lets say 9 nights a month. It wouldn't hurt to run a proper night with proper specialist DJ's for a night of proper dance, whether that be drum and bass , hard house, trance, dirty house breaks etc.

The least you could do is run a regular night once a month. But ideally at least 2 nights a month. Drum and bass, which you have done a couple of lately, and a more hard dance / trance.

Ultimately the town needs venues for this but I heard Liquid have dominated / baught up all the potential sites so essentially have killed the oppertunity for Lutons dance scene which is a shame as Luton actually has a lot of home talent.

Nail. Hit. Head.

Liquid is known for it - they bought up The Beach because it was pulling too much of the market away and in the contract when they sold it, they stated it could never be a club again. It was turned into flats instead - I used to live there.

They've bought up the old cinema in town as well that would make an absolutely cracking venue!! It just sits there, empty, ridden with asbestos - but the building still stands intact. They bought it so no one else could.

Besides all that though, no one can compete with Liquid. I used to run nights in Luton for years but regardless of the great parties going on in other venues, people don't go to them because how can a small club/bar compete with 90p drinks on a Friday and Saturday?

For a town with so many thousands of young people, including a diverse range of students, you would think that there would be more things going on to encourage people's tastes but instead they brainwash them with commerical crap and cheesy remixes all night while getting them hammered.

You've raised some great points and broken it down in terms of nights per month, but Liquid is a business at the end of hte day, a greedy one at that and so they will never do it as it means a dip in profits. No one's looking for ways to lose money right now with the economy the way it is - so it effects the scene further. Even the smaller clubs that used to have underground nights on have now "sold out". Luton is officially dry of any underground scene - for the first time in years!

It's a shame that if you want a night out of substance with credible music and talented DJ's then you have to head further afield to the likes of London, or even to Bedford or Hitchin.

it'd be nice to have a night out in luton, but i can't be coping with the beer boys and one pint beer fighters tbh.

You know what would be cool.

As Liquid & Envy have manopolised and ruined the potential of Lutons dance scene, Lutons potential should focus on the more laid back music that work better in more intermate venues. A classy bar playing liquid or ambient drum and bass withe reasonable dance space or a bar playing proper underground hip hop with professional scraching would be really cool and much more relaxed, this could take adavantage of the fact that Luton is actually home to some amazing hip hop producers and artists, a couple are world renowned and respected on the underground scene. If done really well these kinds of nights would give people in and around Luton the oppertunity to go out and to have a good time whilst to a large extent avoiding the lager mobs. These kinds of ventures Liquid and Envy would have less dominance and therefore that could work. But that is all down to people who are passionate enough to make a career / life choice to set up and run something like that. I would like to see it but I am not devoted enough to do it myself, lol

Oh, actually just a quick thought that slipped my mind in the earlier post, there are plans to build a state of the art live music venue funded partly by the council in the town. This has the potential to hold proper big club dance nights but it would need to be shared with live music etc. Still the potential for a couple nights a month of absolutely blinding dance that Liquid will have absolutely no control over.
