ClubClass Radio 1 Big Weekend aftershow venue and lineup revealed!!

** Pete Tong announces aftershow venue and lineup **
Announced to the world by Pete Tong on his Radio 1 show, the aftershow to Radio 1’s Big Weekend boasts without doubt the strongest lineup ever put together for a ClubClass event. Over the years ClubClass have bought you the biggest and best names in the electronic music world but never so many under one roof on one night. Ladies and gentleman roll that drum please. Here is your aftershow lineup…

** The biggest lineup in ClubClass history ** The connoisseur, the icon, the legend. ClubClass are delighted to bring to you the king of the warehouse party Mr Laurent Garnier. Be prepared for a sonic onslaught from this French techno god as Garnier comes to Kent for the very first time to headline Radio 1’s Big Weekend aftershow. Born and bred in Kent, it’s only fitting that Radio 1 DJ Pete Tong is to be part of this huge event. Pete has appeared regularly at ClubClass over the past eleven years in which time he has become the UK’s best loved dance DJ. He returns for this epic occasion along with fellow Radio 1 DJ Annie Mac. Since bursting onto our airwaves Annie and her record box shows no limits. Her sound encompasses everything from drum and bass to techno, house to hip hop and its clear that this lady is gonna be around for a long, long time.

** Simian debuts and Rampling returns!! **Since exploding on the scene Simian Mobile Disco are the only act to have ever mixed cover CDs for indie and dance bibles NME and Mixmag. From playing ghetto-tech to indie kids and acid to the housed-up hordes, SMD have an ability to make you dance your socks off whatever your music persuasion and ClubClass are delighted to have them at this party as they make their CC debut. Coming out of retirement to play his first ClubClass gig for seven years we are thrilled to welcome Danny Rampling. 2008 marks 20 years since acid house swept across the UK so it’s only fitting that we celebrate this landmark with one of the pioneers who helped with this revolution in the first place. Rampling will be kicking out all the classics from yesteryear in the closing set of this roadblock event. Finally completing the lineup is of course our residents Nic Fanciulli and Sam Ball. A ClubClass party of this magnitude wouldn’t be the same without them as they continue to put Maidstone on the clubbing map. This will be Nic’s first club show in his home town for 2008 following an extensive world tour so he’ll be chomping at the bit in making his set rock the warehouse to its very foundations!

** UK’s largest TV studio space to host Radio 1’s Big Weekend Aftershow ** When the hunt began to find an outstanding space to throw the Radio 1 Big Weekend aftershow ClubClass believed it was only fitting that the venue chosen was an iconic building with a rich history in creativity, originality and artistic ability. Four months later we are delighted to announce that this bespoke event will be held at the state of the art Studio 5 at Maidstone TV Studios in Vinters Park, just one mile from Maidstone town centre and Mote Park. Fully air-conditioned and sound proofed (allowing for a mammoth soundsystem to be installed with no escaping sound pollution), Studio 5 is the largest single TV studio in the country with an epic floor space of 12000 square feet and a capacity of over 2000. Since its construction in 2001, Studio 5 has hosted such popular game shows as ‘Dale’s Supermarket Sweep’, ‘100 to 1’ and ‘Duel’. Its transformation into a music venue for one night only marks a new chapter in the studios history and one that we hope you can all be part of!

** Radio 1’s Big Weekend aftershow to be broadcast live on Radio 1 **ClubClass love cream cakes and especially ones with massive cherries on top.
