From residencies and gigs at the UK’s most prominent clubs to spawning her own brand, Lashed which took Ibiza by storm in 2003, to world tours and bearing the humble title of ‘Queen of Hard House’, this lady has stood up and shown the world the true meaning of bosh and really put hard dance on the metaphorical map.

So, who better could we at Kiddfectious think of to headline our momentous first birthday than the First Lady of Bosh herself, Lisa Lashes!

Hi Lisa! So, how was Christmas in the Lashes household?

It was a pretty quiet affair this year. I played Boxing Day and the day after in Ireland and Xmas Day was spent away with family so I’ve not been at home much.

What were the best and worst presents you received this Christmas?

The best presents this year were from my boyfriend, lots of gorgeous jewellery and thankfully I didn’t have any rubbish presents, as my friends and family are really thoughtful. I did receive a ‘Black & Decker’ workbench from my boyfriend which people may think is rubbish but I love to do odd jobs around the house so I love it!

What have been your highlights of 2008?

The festivals are always a major highlight for me each year including Global Gathering, Planet Love and SW4. I also did a great Cruise boat party from Stockholme to Estonia, from Friday to Sunday sailing through the waters, which was a great experience.

You headlined the Kiddfectious event in Galway over the festive period.. Did the event live up to your expectations?

It more than lived up to my expectations! The club was rammed and the atmophere was amazing. I love the Ireland crowd and its always great to see the Kiddfectious guys.. I'm really excited about the birthday event after that!

You’ve literally played all over the world with gigs from China to South Africa and Brazil to Australia. Where have you enjoyed playing most and why?

I can’t really say there’s one place I’ve loved playing most as I’ve had so many great experiences around the world. I do love Canada though which I visit twice a year to tour from East to West coast.

If you had to choose to settle anywhere apart from home, where would it be?

I love Vancouver in Canada. It’s very English and so fresh and clean and the Canadians are great people.

After 12 years in the limelight and achieving such incredible things throughout your career, do you ever think you’ll get bored and move onto something else or do you see yourself always being a part of the scene?

I think I will always be a part of the music scene whatever I decide to do in the future.

In addition to your hugely successful reputation as a hard dance DJ and producer, you’ve been dabbling quite a lot over the past couple of years with the breakbeat sound, bringing your ‘dirty breaks’ sets to nights such as Godskitchen and Turnmills. What is it about breaks that appeals to you and how do you feel the two styles work together?

I first started listening to breaks and hip-hop before I got into dance music as my housemates were all lads and that was their favourite style. When I did my “lashed” parties in Ibiza I though the fusion of hard house in the main room and breaks with Krafty Kuts & Leroy from the Prodigy would hopefully work in the alternative room and it did thankfully. I think the 2 types of music I play are energetic, fun and different but good in their own way.

What music do you tend to listen to at home?

I’ve just been listening to James Morrison, Pendulum and Kings of Leon so I pretty much like anything that’s good music.

What’s next for Lisa Lashes and what can we expect from you in 2009?

I’m hoping to start up a few “Lashed” nights again and I’ve got a lot of music coming out on my “Lashed” label. I’m also working towards an artist album and with all my diary dates filling up nicely it’s going to be a busy year for me again this year.
