I have to admit that Stylus was never our first choice for NYE, having won a couple of tickets for Hacienda Classics at the Academy we thought our choice had been made for us, but oh no it hadn't. Having learnt of the cancelling of the aforementioned event we had a quick re-think and came up with the obvious contender, Stylus at the Attic.

Having only visited the Attic once previously we were a little apprehensive as to what to expect, but having turned up at around 10 we were quietly impressed with the way the Thirsty Scholar had been transformed from dirty pub to plush club, well, nearly. The crowd was little sparse on the ground, but the disco classics were getting us going and building the vibe for the night ahead.

The main Attic room opened at 10:30 sharp and up we went to check out the deep house sounds emanating from above. The upstairs soon filled up, though the night was never over busy, and I think the arrival of a biker gang downstairs might have caused a shift in dancing location. The turn of midnight was ushered in with little ceremony, indeed the music didn't even stop, much better than a cheesy countdown in my opinion, though as a result my sister did miss the event whilst in the toilet, oops.

The rest of the night was mainly spent upstairs, on the brief journeys downstairs the music was found to be most excellent, though the number of punters lacking, which kind of reduced the atmosphere.

Overall a great time was had by all and I would thoroughly recommend Stylus as a top night out to all and sundry. After the usual letdown of NYE this night was a distinct change to the trend and long may it continue. Bonanza!
