DJ Breaks (Trackmaster Music) profile

This article is about Missing in Manchester vs Sectioned : Round 2 @ The Music Box in Manchester (UK), Fri 07 Nov 2008

Breaks initially started out as a hip hop DJ at the age of 16, but he was soon bitten by the hardcore bug after hearing a tape from the legendary Eclipse Club (Coventry). During these years, Breaks' interest with hardcore grew, leading him to try his hand at producing the music he loved. The result, a track entitled "Generations", was quickly signed up by DJ Breeze, then owner of Infinity Records. The success of this debut release in 1999 gave Breaks the urge to continue producing tracks and to start playing out more regularly. However, he took a few years out, exploring other genres, to concentrate on perfecting his studio skills.

In 2005 he returned to what he knew best and hooked up with his current partner in crime, DJ Cruze. Having produced multiple tracks for well respected labels, Breaks decided to invent his own flavour and style of hardcore. In recent years his productions have had support from a lot of the scene's biggest names and have even seen Breaks perform on live TV.

In recent times, Breaks is kept busy playing out at events all over the country, such as Hyperbolic, Who's Hardcore, Hi-Energy and B2T. Despite having been born completely deaf in 1 ear, Breaks' passion has driven him to develop a technical ability that rivals most hardcore heavyweights. His DJing and mixing style can be described as fun, frantic, varied, bouncy and uplifting.
