JOKER (Hyperdub/Kapsize)
-
By now Joker needs no introduction. Other than making a name for himself at FORMAT in June, his recent remixes for the likes of Basement Jaxx and Simian Mobile Disco have cemented his status as one of the biggest and most important electronic artists in the country, let alone the now burgeoning post-garage scene from which he emerged. One of the most sort after DJs & producers in the world touches down at FORMAT for the second time...
PINCH (Tectonic)
-
The Godfather of the 'Bristol sound', Pinch has been one of the main dubstep players since bringing dubstep to his home city in early 2004. His sound is truly unique, infused with minimal techno grooves, 2-Step hooks, IDM bleeps and dark, dark basslines. His debut album, 'Underwater Dancehall' received huge support from the world press receiving 9/10 in Vice, 5/5 in Mixmag and album of the month in DJ Mag – to name a few.
KRYPTIC MINDS (Osiris Music UK/Swamp81/Tectonic)
-
Already a massive force in d'n'b, KM have now swtiched their attentions to dubstep. Unlike the swathe of d'n'b acts that have failed to make a successful transition to the dubstep sound, KM have come up with the dubstep album of the year according to critics across the globe. Dark and rolling, 'One of Us' was released on post-garage legend Loefah's 'Swamp 81' label - an imprint set up specifically to release Kryptic Minds' new sound - you ain't gonna get much bigger props than that...This is their Manchester debut - you saw it here first.
