Get some project management!
What a dissapointment. This place has the potential to be a fantastic venue... If only they realised that the customers are sometimes right.

If you buy tickets over the phone and they cannot be dispatched (a week in advance) then you should not be expected to queue up with people that dont have tickets. In affect anyone that got tickets off the web paid more than anyone else on the night (It irrelevant of where the booking fee goes we should not be penalised for buying tickets in advance).

Obviously a lot of people we're upset to be queing in the freezing cold when they already had tickets. If anyone dared to reason this with the staff, then you could be refused entry. Obviously this set the evening off badly.

Yet it just got worse, the sound system was terrible, their were lots of groups of blokes looking for trouble, it closed an hour earlier than it should of, one of the stated rooms wasnt even there (we couldn't find it anyway) and half the DJ's didn't turn up Luciano etc.

In all, I had high expectations for this night and I know I'm probably biased as I was treated badly by the staff at the beginning, but I would never go back there again. Even if they did sort out all these problems theirs no atmosphere anyway.

Thank God Sankeys is here to stay and this warehouse will be back doing what it did best...... Making beer.

Ooooh one good thing, Derrick Carter did rock.

i'll second that mate its a bit of a joke that it finished early surely they could have got one of the other dj's to play for an extra hour. Also there was no mention of why luciano wasnt there for some reason

François K and Andy Weatherall rocked the place and Weatherall should have been allowed to carry on to the earlier advertised finish time.

As soundsystems go it was quite good for a venue of that size, of course it's not going to be of club quality - that would be almost impossible. Depending on where you were in the warehouse the quality varied, and if you picked the right place to be then it was spot on. François K also kept cranking it up and that made up for a lot of the earlier short comings. What people need to remember is that it's not a club, it's not designed to be a club, it's a warehouse.

I overheard someone in the queue saying that he was treating the event like you do a festival and was expecting to stand in line, and besides I don't think the queues were that bad, except for the temperatures! If I was one of the organisers I'd probably think twice about running it in the winter again.

The toilets being outside was a fairly major gripe, because they are were portable things I don't understand why they couldn't have put them somewhere inside, what with the venue being as large as it is.

As for the second room - it wasn't opened, we asked one of the bouncers and they said it was because they were a few DJs down - Luciano's disappearance was mentioned on their website before the event, and whatever really happened to Derek May (we all saw the posters and heard François K's explaination) stopped him from being there.

We ordered tickets online and had to queue and yes it's annoying but I do think this is typical of a lot of places, more fool us really for not getting them earlier.

The night can be summed up for me by the three Fs. Filthy, Freezing and Fantastic.

First place I've ever had to do it. To be honest wouldn't have been that bothered but it was the way it was handled. Making out it was our fault even though we'd bought tickets, which in my opinion could have been sent out in time.

Why not just have a clipboard dude, like they do at every other club throughout the UK/World. If it's a question of size, why dont they have problems Amnesia, Pacha, Gatecrasher,Air etc. It was just badly organised and not very good.

Fair enough with the sound system, but I think I'm pretty spot on with the rest of my gripes.

Just my honest opinion and each to their own but the night can be summed up for me by one big fat F.... Fail.

Why don't you email them and ask? I'm sure feedback would be welcome, it is afterall a new venture and I'm sure they'll have lessons to learn from it.

I didn't feel the queue to get in was that long though, we waited about 10 minutes, and I've queued much longer to get in some of the big clubs, gatecrasher being a prime example of this.

Just my honest opinion and each to their own but the night can be summed up for me by one big fat F.... Fail.

Don't get me wrong you are entitled to have that, but don't let some door nazis ruin your whole experience of something. Life is too short.

Your totally right, I have become a little obessed with the politics of this club night.... Venting frustration on a forum like this, in my previous format was probably the wrong way to go about things. I should have set the tone of my review on the actual DJ's and the venue (not door jobsworths). Which to be fair was quite good.

I see real potential with the Warehouse Project, think it could probably be fantastic. Maybe I'll give it another try (James Zabiela methinks) and get a second opinion. As you say life is too short and warehouse raves are few and far between.

Thanks for the reasoned argument and making me see past queue rage.

To be honest, none of this surprises me. The Main person running it "Sacha" is a bit of a money-grabbing git anyway. I worked for him about 10 years ago, for his student night, and really wasn't impressed.

Pile 'em in and watch the money flow ... into his pockets.

I thought it was a wicked night! Loads of nice people and banging tunes!
We decided to go on spur of the moment - always the best nights in my opinion.
We walked straight in off the street no que whatsoever.
You're right Doctor G its a right joke that I can walk in off the street while u que up with your tickets!
I'm not being smug tho, I went to the 1st saturday and had tickets to pick up on the door. Again no que but ticketline or whoever spelt my name wrong so i couldn't get in!! That my freind was not funny at all! After arguing a bit with ticketline and speaking to one of the promotors i got a refund and 2 free 2 paying guestlists for Sasha so i'm happy again :-)
If ur really annoyed give them a call and see what u can get.

Big shouts to Sian, Alison and James who were all spot on!!

Hi Guys,
Ive been to the warehouse project for the past two fridays now,
Last friday they finished the event early and the soundsystem was not all that good.

And Friday i got there around 11pm to be told that Derrick May was a no show which i was absolutley gutted about as he was the main reason why i went to this event, also they announced on there website that Luciano was a no show but Jim Master's would be taking his place, but where the hell was he? And again they finished the event early :-(

The soundsystem was better this week and well done to Francois K for crancking it up!!

Hands down to Carter, Weatherall & Francois as they all played top sets.

I am going again on the 24th for the autechre night and i am praying that this event is going to be organised a little better as this is the night i am most looking forward to. And the soundsystem needs to be on top form as this is going to be a sick night!!!

So come on warehouse project sort it out, because this project could be made to be something truely amazing!!!!

I think we're all getting a bit bogged down in the quality of the soundsystem. It would cost thousands to get it up to club standards. It actually had quite good clarity for a venue of it's size, and I think we're confusing the quality with volume, and there will always be some loss there because of how big it is, and the fact that the doors are open. It's a warehouse, not a club don't forget.

I agree there was a little seperation of sound, and by that I mean you could feel the bass just about up to your chest, and the mid and treble were just above your head, but I suspect that was to do with speaker placement.

God, I'm starting to sound like such a geek!

Considering the money they'll be making from this, they really don't have an excuse for poor sound quality/volume. If they need to manage the crowds better, why are they not learning from past events?

Well, I'm not being funny, but they are in it to make money, of course they aren't going to spend more because it will cut into their profits.

If it negatively affects their press, then I suggest that they do ... otherwise it mighf affect other aspects of this or future ventures. Bad press spreads faster than good press.

The sound system should have been better, I have been to loads of events in bigger warhouses than that, and they all anaged fine. At the end of the day it wasnt a cheap night, they've made loads of money, so they should have sorted the sound. The fact Derek May didnt turn up made it worse, it was a crap nigt really and if it hadnt been for my mates being there I dont think I would have enjoyed myself. Andy Weatherall, and Derek Carter were the only people worth seeing, and I doubt I would pay to go there again

Im sorry to add to this relentless list of complaints about the soundsystem/organization, but it really was shit. the sound problems could be sorted out for under £10 000 which is most likely what they make on the bar in about 2 hours. In terms of organization all i can say is amateur. i hope that kirsty and sacha are reading these comments because with such a potentially great thing in the wearhouse project, there falling very short of peoples expectations.
