the 1210s are like 30 years old! think its about time clubs started installing some newer decks like stanton t120's or newmark tt-x1's. the t120's are far far far superior in every respect over the 1210's. crazy! full fire!!

well i dont think clubs will be to arsed about replacing turntables now the war for industry standard in turntables was over long ago things are going digital.

there still cool decks but i think there a little over rated.

industry standard for over 20 years. you get a lifetime guarantee when you buy them. they are the best for a reason. all the pretenders have fallen by the wayside. vestax decks are gash ttx1's don't compare and the stantons although they are a good deck haven't really convinced anyone they are a real contender. technics are the daddy no question.

i've used pioneer, denon and technic CD decks and i think its going to be a two horse race between pioneer and denon to be industry standard. thing is though you can do so much with digital technology it won't be like vinyl it'll change rapidly year on year.

But why? I cant understand how technology from 30 years ago can be better than the new stuff. Isnt it a bit like saying that ur gonna stick with your old ford cortina because its never let u down rather than buying a new car that can go 3 times as fast and has moder features like abs and sat nav and the rest. Seems a bit silly to me.

Think your dead rite m8. There will always be vinyl junkies (myself included) but times have changed. The last time i saw a big name DJ play with vinyl at a gatecrasher over a year ago! Matt Hardwick. Other than that it seems that vinyl is almost dead. Move with the times or get left behind i suppose.

because they are the best. simple as that. they do exactly what you need for a very long time better or at the very least as well as anything else on the market.

age is no indicator of quality. would you rather have a steinway grand or a bontempi organ? the bontempi does loads more stuff and its newer, that doesn't make it better.

would you rather have a old style beetle that runs forever and has bundles of character or a new one that looks slick but is basically a bit crap?

technics are effective stylish and elegant, pleasing to the eye and the touch. there is nothing on the market that is better. there probably won't be anything ever on the market thats better

you are right but i think denon have a new deck coming out that is apparently better then pioneer.

also the technology progresses so fast that it won't be long before pioneer have to change the CDJ1000

they said that about the 3500 lol it doesnt say much about the denon 3500 when they are already bringing out a replacment after just over a year im glad i never bought one now after using pioneers.
all i can say to denon is good luck cause its near enough impossible to convince clubs to buy there deck when there is already an industry standard (pioneers) that new deck would have to be something special to take over pioneer as the market leader.

also the technology progresses so fast that it won't be long before pioneer have to change the CDJ1000

i very much doubt that what else could be added to a cdj1000 to make it better? if they do find anything they will just bring out a cdj1000 mk4 and a cdj800 mk3 no point in reaplcing the whole deck u already said that technics have been industry standard for over 30 years why cant pioneer do a similar thing? if it isnt broken dont fix it.

i wondered how long it would take for this to turn into a debate.

i suppose its just a question of personal preference. the 1210 mk5's are a good deck but come on steve even uve got to admit that the mk2's have just about had there day?

Ooo, gatecrasher. cuz thats the biggest event ever??? Vinyl is no where near dead, its just had coincide wiv the use of CD's. The frequency range is larger on a vinyl than CD, and ull never ever beable to drop a cd track half way through the track if u fancy droppin a tune from the middle, and sometimes u need to jog ur memory to remember wat the tracks r on a vinyl and u can quickly listen by the drop of a needle. On CD's u hav to search through it etc and that takes time.

Your dead right mate! My 1973 VW Beetle kicks ass over any new beetle. It does how ever hava 1911cc 160bhp engine and 18" porsche alloys =] so in comparison my beetle's like the Mark 5's

Why have mk2's had there day? they use the same technology as the mk5's? its just the mk5 is just the luxury version which u dont neccessarily need? They last, made from granite and dont break??? and if they do, technics will fix them for free!!! u dont get that wiv stanton or vestax do ya?

My mk3's r 5 years old and iv never had a single problem with them and work as good as when i got them new.

no its just the biggest club lol im not a fan of the place but its massivly popular

Vinyl is no where near dead, its just had coincide wiv the use of CD's.

thats the thing though it doesnt coincide with the use of cds, like the other person said go to a club like crasher and 90% of tracks are played on cd.

none of that makes sense i disagree with it all

Vinyl is no where near dead

yes vinyl is no where near dieing but it varies from genre to genre in trance clubs vinyl is pretty much dead id say that pretty much every trance dj uses cd now but go to a place that plays hard dance and vinyl is still widely used.

but everyone can use what they want i dont care

i doubt pioneer will replace the whole deck, they'll just make it MP3 accessable or they might incorporate VJ capability into it. i think they've pretty much got it right but they will constantly have to keep refining it. the point is i seriously doubt in 5 years anyone will use the mk2.

the 1210 mk5's are a good deck but come on steve even uve got to admit that the mk2's have just about had there day?

sorry mate we'll have to agree to disagree! almost every venue i've ever played in uses the mk 2, simply because they run forever so theres no real need to replace them. when i bought my mk2's i was torn between them and the stantons and i weighed it up by reasoning that if i buy technics i'll never need another deck, if i bought stantons i might need to buy technics

i know the resident and its more than 90% its closer to 100% then again crasher did a deal with vestax and they kitted out the box so that could be a reason why noone uses vinyl there!
