Top Job
Nice one guys. It had been a full month since you guys last played out together so there was much anticipation for last night. That extreme air of excitement mingled with a fair spatter of trepidation. DV8, as we know, is the archetypal seaside town club bang in to it's R'n'B, Garage and Hip-Hop and you never can tell how a night is going to pan out, especially a Friday night !

There was a little bit of a change around with the set times last night, thinking that the club would be more full early on. Phil good continued to do a sterling job as ever assisting with opening time. A nice funky commercial set that Phil does effortlessly. Problem was that the seafront was not at all busy early on, apart from pensioners piling out of Bingo lol With this said the club was slow to full up and had me clock watching, DJ Ferdinand who popped in for a while advised me to take my watch off as the lack of punters early on in the night was paining me so much.

Early sets are never easy for any DJ and it takes a strong man to do this on a regular basis and to be able to keep their sanity.

Robbie Styles up next, brought forward from his normal set time. Robbie hadn't played for a month so can be excused for a rusty start (lmao), the defining moment in your set Robster was when you dropped your own track. With its quality low end phat bassline it doesn't matter what your taste in music is you can't help but move, Mr Logic as put you at "Legend" status for local DJ's and to a certain extent I have to agree with him. from a shaky start to a pumping finish. Only at about midnight did the club start to fill out, significantly later than last time. At no stage did I expect to have to tell the Right Rev Robster to lighten it up a bit ? , you can now see why I set the challenge. By the end of the set the bar are was rammo and the dance floor was filling well.

Up next was Frenchie. Now Frenchie normally assists with the earlier sets but I felt a change was as good as a rest and gave him the prime set. A blinding performance Paul !!!! The maturity of a DJ has it’s plus points in abundance when playing such clubs as DV8 and last night that showed. The choice of tracks were spot on. How well did that Dave spoon/Dizzy rascal track Flex go down, knew it would (couldn’t not really). Mr French on and a full dance floor and you kept it full. What with me running round crowd watching and giving feedback I think we worked well mate ?, those classic tracks worked a treat.

Last up was Ian G. Soooooooooo nice to see Ian back behind the decks. Ian did what Ian does and set down some quality commercial electro with some quality vocal rifts. The first couple warmed it up well and once back in the flow the set ran smooth, and you didn’t fuck up your first mix Mr G lol, with a couple of oldies thrown in for good measure it was all good.

Robster returned for the final 15-20 minutes to play out the night in his drunken state …. Still didn’t miss a mix though, ou should have played Groove is in the Heart earlier you numpty, everyone and their dog knows that one !!!

Very pleased with the night, even though it did start late. A massive thank you to those who religiously join us at every event and it is always nice to see a younger crowd enjoy House. Huge thanks to the bird with the red hair and skimpy outfit on the door who did a fantastic job pulling punters in ?.

Enigma is our next gig and then we have something very special for our run up to Christmas. Posting going up in the next couple of days.
