Spoon Feeding
GH hit DV8 again last night, it's first outing there without a Big name. Last time with Judge Jules was good but last night proved a massive point to us all .... You don't need a big name in town to get a big crowd.

I was optimistic when I left home before the night began. A slow start had me wondering a bit but that soon disappeared.

The thing with Margate is that it a truly commercial seaside town ... and then some. Phil Good and Frenchie did the early shift of 9.30 to midnight. A superb blend of vocal funky and timeless classics greeted you as you came through the doors. Tunes that even the most die hard R'n'B and hip hop lovers couldn't help but move to. The odd bit of Electro thrown in for good measure, just that little bit so as not to spoil the momentum. I sooooooooooo love hearing those older House classics that soooooo
many DJ's now throw to one side as being "so yesterday". Yesterday they may be but todays tracks are built around them and people still love to hear them, it's all about what the crowd want NOT you as the DJ. This is as close to the truth as you will get in seaside towns.

Frenchie and Phil pair nicely at events and compliment each others style given a fantastically well balanced fodder for the ears. Phil slipped back to Funky in order to hand over to what Ian refers to as "Super Robb" lol. Nice bit of percussion by Rob Young helped the tunes along their way, glad to see you Rob.

Enter the enigma that is "Robbie Styles". Last time DV8 had the pleasure of Robbie was Jules night. On that night the club erupted when the guy hit the decks and last night was no exception. Robbie has that knack of playing a cracking track time after time after time after time ....... or is it the show he puts on? Whatever it is i don't f*!cking care because it puts a smile on your face and is as entertaining to watch as a blockbuster movie .... Robbie is Armageddon in 7.1 surround sound. They love your "Electro Pride" track mate, and so they bloody should, lots of head nodding going on. If you haven't already purchased this track get it now. Support the cause buy it today ..... Link

Frenchie took to the decks for the final hour and pulled out some cracking beats that drove the DV8 system well. It is the best I have heard the system since I have been going there. Tweaked just right and just the right quality tracks played. Robbie was seen simulating "spoon feeding" those on the dance-floor and Frenchie continued, in a very subtle but professional way. All the DJ's were smiling and thats no mean task in Margate :-)

There is something about GH when all the guys are together and play as well as they did last night. Some entering the building were seen sniping that they didn't like House but those people were soon seen on the dance-floor, goes to prove that when the blinkers are off you can't help but like the genre. Those people came in and stayed in.

Margate is Margate and it's crowd knows what it likes, commercial 'n' all that, but last night it liked GH. Not the packed 650 of cheap 'n' cheese night on Wednesday's but hey we did well.

A MASSIVE thank you to Danny Blaze and DV8 for the opportunity, MASSIVE thanks to Lynda and the door staff and the bar staff, even saw the bar staff dancing at one stage :-) Thanks to the familiar faces that turned out to support and so nice to see so many new faces for a GH night. Thanks to Rob for percussion and Huge Massive Thanks to my Mandy for all your hard work on the door getting punters in, they just can't resist you :-)xx

Round of applause for the DJ's .... Well done guys there is life in Margate.

Good night for sure. Slow starting but things shaped up nicely. Good to work with Good again, and some bloke called Robbie Styles. Hopefully we can get to do it again at DV8.

Your so kind Markus........

Proper great night, which did flash by. Nice one Mandy for dragging the peeps in, hope Mark gave you a warm rub down as you did look absolutely frozen. As always Phil & Frenchie top notch, wasn't it nice to have a decent monitor speaker, my right ear was battered on Saturday morning. Last but not least I would like to say thanks to the usual GH crowd & to the new GH'ers for filling the dancefloor all night long.

Big Love!
Robbie Styles
