the worst garage nation in thehistoryofits success
I've always had an issue with the sound system at DV8, and yeah that mixer aint good. Nice venue don't get me wrong but it always struck me that the sound system was the last thing on their minds when they built it.

Well that should put the cat amongst the pigeons lol

I know what you are saying. There just isn't the venues in Thanet and I know full well that Guilty Heaven and Howcleanisyourhouse, to name but two, are finding it difficult to keep their DJ's busy.

Damn shame really that you have to travel 45 miles just to find the right club and the right crowd to play to. One day it may well all come together ..... opps sorry I was drifing off and dreaming again ;-)

Roll on Ibiza I say

Thing is Margate is a typical Seaside town with a seaside mentality to music and drinking. It has been proven from remarks in other threads that Margate is not unique and it is prevalent in most towns with the same geological and social makeup.

It isn't necessarily the DJ's that are at fault it's just that they play what their crowd demands, or feel that that is what they want to hear. It has always been said that when the crowd is as pissed as they get in Margate all they want is cheese and tracks that they can sing along to lol

Many of the local DJ's are highly competent but are constrained to playing limited genre and cheese. Most local clubbers have to discover new music, their lack of exposure to new music means that they cannot recommend music to their network and thus the cycle continues.

New music is an education, which many promotions plug away at. Local Thanetarians are commercial led and thus we endure a commercial music experience when out clubbing locally.

I agree that club owners are acutely responsible for the sometimes unpleasant clubbing experience in the area. However as we all know it's all about profit. Then again if all clubs updated their music policy i'm sure everyone wouuldn't just stay in, when drunk most people will listen to anything .... well within reason.

I dont think the blame lies with one particular club owner that you mention

Didn't mention one Nick, I think it's prevelant in all, in a vast majority of towns with the same demographic's as Thanet.

i apologize of the profanity in my thread. it was uncalled for.. its nice to hear people in this area have the same opinion as me.. as for the summer, well, thanet has lots of good places for a good nice "till six in the mornin`" style rave spots.. of the top of my head, sacketts lane.. now people say this is a dogging spot, fair enuf, its out of the way, with music at a nice decibel im sure the people who live on that road wont have a problem with it, alright u might get some rudeboys on the streets giving it lemon, but thats because we live in thanet..
dj nick where do you play mate?? how long have you been in thanet?

You will probably be bannished to the back room, and yes that is the fact before you say anything Fraud. The Main room is predominantly Garage, R 'n' B, Hip Hop etc with a smattering of House on occasions. Speak to Fadman or Danny Blaze.

well i dont really comment on here very much, but i thought id at least take time to answer playboys comments.

we were approached by garage nation who asked to do a night at our club, not the other way around.

on the night one of the garage nation dj's forced the headphone jack into the mixer and the part fell through, this was just before we opened, so me and fraudster took the mixer pannel off and done our best to put it back, but at some point in the night it got pushed through again (the mixers worked perfectly for a year now, so why would we feel it needs changing?)

yes the same mixer that Tim westwood, Trevor Nelson, Slimzee, Jaimeson, Streetboy and Alex p all used without complaining, you see when you have been djing long enough you can use any mixer and get the best results out of it, some dj's lack of club experience holds them back as they are only used to the mixer in there bedroom or the mixer that they are used to using at some other place, be it a friends or a bar etc.

as for our choice of music we have been thorough so many genres of music here at the club, but it seems the people who go out the most seem to enjoy Garage & RnB, i understand Loads of you are passionate about music as am i, but to run a business catering for nische & i can say nische as thats what it seems to be as house ravers either save up there cash and go uptown or just go out once a month (or just not as often as joe public).
remember we do as Mark said have a second room that plays and hosts the type of house music you guys are asking for, i no its smaller BUT if you can pull a bigger croud il give you the main room...and up to now..no1 has pulled Capasity playing house in the main room...Not even Kinky Malinki...a world reconised brand name..

so that amongst other evidence leeds me to beleve that there is a serious lack of funds in thanet, and that people just dont have enogh cash to go out when they want, you feel free to argue the point but as BBC NEWS stated in the summer, that Margate "thanet" is the most deprived area in europe, NOT the Uk but Europe
and that the Margate sefront has the highest number of alcohol related crimes in Kent.

so with that in mind we should be trying to stick together to try and get Margate out of the shit rather than coming on this very small world (as margate dsi is as big as my front room) and knocking it.

and to people like nick, ive been a dj for 13 years and have played all over the world and have been in club management for over 7 of those years and i am now the general manager for Dv8 Margate i also ran a successful pirate radio station in london for nearly 7 years, and i have acheved quite alot and have alot of support throughout the music industry, just because you dont no me from Margate, because im not from Margate, dont think im dont now how to do things properly, im going to do them my way and if it fails then theres only me to blame, so keep watching and learning.

as for things like the soundsystem, i dont feel its shit, everyones and expert it seems, shal i become an expert in what you do for a living? because i no people on this site are feeling the pinch in there business as most Margate businesses are, so coming on here slagging people off is easyer than concentrating on your own problems. Rant done and if your offended come and see me in person, you no where i am
