okay, rather than just calling it shit, what would you change?

And you can't say just get shot of the r'n'b, as much as i agree it's shit as well (much prefer dance/house) it brings customers in - which is why we try to alternate between dance and r'n'b in Ice (the room that plays that music)

i dnt see the point of suggesting much as when it comes dwn to it like you said 'brings customers in' the club only wants to make money.and i no that the way to do that in milton keynes is hip hop and cheese etc. guess im jst dreaming of a day when milton keynes has a proper club with dj's who can actualli dj and play house/electro/minimal/trance etc.with different nites. much like the nites i travel to london 2/3 times a month to go to.
i dnt think oceana will eva be a club that it cud be.
gd luck in makin sum changes.i hope you do.

I gave Oceana a go for the first time about a month ago (Saturday night). I gotta say, I was very disappointed.

The layout of the club is all wrong - there is far too much space devoted to sit-down bar areas (mostly empty) and the dancefloors are too small (and hence packed). The upstairs dancefloor (the 70's/cheese room) is FAR too small. Also, many areas of the club are too brightly lit.

Music in the Ice room was chopped & changed between RnB, House & Trance far too much. In a given room, they should pick a style and stick to it.

If they did away with the pointless French Boudoir bar and Bier Keller bar on the 1st floor, they could knock the lot through and have two large dance rooms - one for house and one for RnB. Then everyone would be happy.

It was a shame because there were lots of nice looking, friendly (and seemingly available) women there.

I was expecting MK's main club to be better than this given the masses of space they have to work with, and the large young professional population of the town.

Oceana's owners should come and take a look at Area club in Watford for a lesson in how to make good use of available space.

Dennyhtid, I think you would find that if the club improved, so would the atmosphere.. If a club is "attidudey" it's usually because people are having a shit night. But you're right about the Sanctuary - that was a good club.

My overall opinion of Oceana is its pretty shit too, its not so much the place coz fair play to ya its a banging venue, but there just never enuff hardcore in there, plus u always get so many stuck up ppl in there, that dont wanan giv eyou the time of the day, and well the bouncerS?? pfft dont get me started on them, altho to be fair its not just oceana its the whole MK the bouncers every where are compelte arsewholes, they are all a bunch of bullies, i dont know if they are SIA licenced or nto but if they are whoever passed em needs a boot up there arse!!

Totally agree with ya mate, altho i never went to sancturary but i herd from every1 it was bangin, but the attitude thing with MK is totally tru, i live in MK all my life but i try to avoid goin out in MK at all costs, so much shit goes on up the theatre district and around Oceana, if the club owners wanna make it better they shud strt sorting out their bouncers and the lil chavvy shites they let into their premises. I SAY - OPEN IT ALL UP TO THE HARDCORE LOVING RAVING FOLK!! THEY'D BE NO PROBLEMS THEN EVERYONE WOULD JUST HUG EACHOTHER AND BE HAPPY!! HEHE!!

I think the music in the Ice Room is OK up to a certain point when they're playing the dancier stuff. Once the hip-hop/R&B stuff comes on that's when I normally leave. Totally agree that the attitude in the place in pretty bad.

Yeah the Sanctuary was a wicked venue, had many a messed up night in there. Shame it's gone to club heaven.

Sensoria @ Bar Central was wicked aswell till that got closed down. Where do all the old Sensoria people go now?? They were a great crowd.

So all we've really got left in MK is Oceana and Revs. Not exactly a wicked clubbing scene is it??

nah not really i like Revs tho, its ussually ok in there never had any probs in there at all, but ocena i always find ppl trying to kick off, plus its too packed in there, lol u gotta give oceana summat aint ya i mean for the amount of ppl that slag it off it does still pull the punters in, but i think the majority of them are all underage anyways so b4 u 18 Oceana seems like a great place to get into coz u can lol. but then u get that bit more older and wiser and o the world seems so much clearer! lol

How about making it a proper venue instead of just another crappy over-priced bar playing shit music that I've got to dress up to go in? Ofcourse, that will be your target audience out of the window pretty much.

Revs is okay when it's empty and if you have a privilege card. When it's busy it's hot and you end up just standing still in a crowd or on a packed dancefloor.

I don't consider MK a place to go and dance because it's all just bars with pretty limited music that have small dancefloors. I'd rather go to a pub...If I want to dance I'm pretty much guarenteed to leave MK.

the Leisure Plaza should do some events similar to (though obviously not as big as) the Helter Skelter Life thing 04/05 nye. That was brilliant (although the bouncers really weren't on their game haha)

But as it is, I don't see how you can go out for a "rave" or anything like that without leaving MK.

I love how there are no events listed in MK on uk-clubbing-directory. That's as it should be, because no one should be tricked into coming to our shitty bars.

u shud have different styles of music in different rooms! instead of playing disco stuff in upstairs room on thursdays and mondays(student nights) play hip hop upstairs and dance downstairs or vice versa! it is annoying to be on the dance floor for 2 mins when a gd song is on only to be fucked over by a completely different style track next! and also a lot more recent dance music is needed the djs are playing a lot of old stuff they need to stay up to date.
