I've lived in MK for almost two years now, and we went to Oceana a couple months ago for the first time. We got there about 11.15, and had left by 1.30, and we haven't gone back.

We're seasoned clubbers, and the whole place screamed "townie". I know that's where the most money comes in, but it was a busy night (at least in Ice and in the disco room upstairs) but the dancefloors felt like cattle grids. My girlfriend is petite and can't stand being stuck in a crowd, so although the music in Ice wasn't that bad at the time (playing some funky/electro house) we just couldn't stay in there for being barged around by drunk people going "weeaaarrrrrrrallrlrlrlrlrhh" etc.

Unlike someone else said, the sitting down areas were alright. After walking around the venue about 3 times we ended up sitting in the harbourside bar. Then we went home.

Admitaddly we haven't checked anywhere else in MK out properly yet, but that's because we end up going down london almost every week instead. However searching through DSI I found out about The Beacon over in mount farm opposite where the sanctuary used to be. Apparently there was a hardcore / oldskool / jungle do on NYE but I haven't heard any feedback from anyone who went. And they had a 6am licence too!

Could be worth a look, as unfortunately doing another major thing at Empire / leisure plaza is out of the question with the council due to the amount of complaints they got after Helter Skelter did that Life event. Bahski!

Fuck it, if nothing else is going on I'll try and do an event. I've done it couple times before in London with vibes, slipmatt etc playing and it wasn't that hard! :D

Hiya people.

As a boy born and bred in Milton Keynes, I'm now based in Manchester - DJing full time as a resident and guest for nights both inManchester and around the UK.

I'm looking to see if there's any good nights on in MK early/midweek that are worth a look and also to see if they'd be interested in havin me maybe play as a guest or a regular resident? It'd be great to get down to MK a bit & play where I used to live & even get to see my family & friends now and again!!!

So if any of you guys could recommend anywhere I'd really appreciate it.

You can get hold of me through DSI or on myspace

Nice one guys....

PRESS QUOTES.....
"Continuing with our policy of showcasing only the finest resident DJ's from some of the UK's most highly respected clubs, this Saturday...Simon Forestiero comes to town! Now, if you've never heard of Simon, let us give you a bit of a heads up.... Bottom line, you'll rarely see a more technically gifted DJ anywhere in the UK. Simon's flawless mixing skills and use of all equipment, including both vinyl & CD turntables, is nothing less than a marvel. His draw dropping ability has seen him grace the decks at the cream of the UK clubland.... To see & hear Simon play really is an experience in itself and one that should not be passed upon." (DontStayIn writeup)

"Babooshka has captured the essence of 'fuck me it's funky' clubbing by installing the floor-quaking talent that is Simon Forestiero in the upstairs bar....Forestiero inflicts serious aural pleasure with his eclectic snazzy grooves..." (MINISTRY magazine)

"In more recent times Simon has developed an envious reputation as a DJ who delivers the goods wherever he plays. And with residencies at nights like Babooshka @ Code nightclub in Birmingham and 2Risque in Manchester alongside his Sugar Lounge sessions, a radio show on Key 103 and a World of bookings on his CV - he is hot property." (MANCHESTER AFTER DARK website)

"By now we were only minutes away from David Morales' set... As we stood talking...we could hear the dark second room kicking off in style as Simon Forestiero began to scratch up tracks I'd never heard before. We were impressed enough to decide to miss the first hour of David's (Morales') 4 hour set to enjoy the talents of Simon" (www.gurn.net)

"Sugar Lounge is an essential destination on Thursdays and Fridays when resident Si Forestiero (of Code, Birmingham fame) mixes soulful house from 8.30pm until the early hours, with the likes of Formula One bad-boys Eddie Irvine and Jenson Button in attendance." (ESQUIRE magazine)

"...phenomenal DJ Simon Forestiero keeps the vibe sexy in the lounge with an eclectic selection of hip hop, raregroove, r&b, funk and soul..." (BBC RADIO 1 website)

"BAR OF THE MONTH : THE SUGAR LOUNGE - Sweet In The City" "....The music strategy is the icing of the funky cake. Take the latest in Hip Hop, R&B, Funk and Soul, mix it into the cauldron, throw in some classics for good measure, then add a well polished DJ. The outcome is an electric, sexy, energised atmosphere in which one cannot help but wear a big smile and become embroiled in the intimate and pulsating surroundings." (IN MANCHESTER magazine)

Review of Babooshka @ CODE, Birmingham "It's not just the undulating list of exceptional DJ's (Eric Morillo, David Morales, Bob Sinclar to name a few) it unashamedly treats the clubbers of Birmingham too, but the whole experience of a night at Babooskha that sets it apart. ; ........But let's not forget Simon Forestiero in the upstairs lounge. A night is not complete with a jaunt in this chic room where the guy drops and scratches the best old school beats. Although completely diverse his tunes just fit and complement the night so well." (Richard Walden - klubuniverse.com)

"...along with cool décor and funky music check out the Si Forestiero set on a Thursday and Friday night for the best." (worldsbestbars.com)

Alright alright... I worked in Oceana when it first opened and the concept initially would have been a good one

The Ice room was going to be House and Dance music only, disco room as it is and then all the other rooms music to suit the theme.... thing is when the promoters went out all the bad boy milton keynes guys kept moaning saying they wanted Garage boooo ... this is where they went wrong...me thinks

They have a great venue that they could do so much with but never will no matter how much we try to persuade them and with revs next door, why bother trying just take the business there and they may one day see sense

To be fair, i've had some great nights out in Oceana, but only cos 've been pissed. The drinks are overpriced, most of the doormen have delusions of grandieur and the music sucks arse! I agree it'd be much better if they got rid of 4 of their pointless bars, especially the downstairs one and turned them into dancefloors. Rnb downstairs, house etc in Ice room and cheesy shite in the Disco room. Job done! Get rid of the shitty djs and get some proper ones in????
As for Revs, it's ok until it gets busy then it's hell. You can never get served and there's no room to dance. I give up...........

very true, oceana is only good if your drunk, I can't be myself in there, what's more, is it feels people are just walking around in circles, which you find yourself doing in there... and the bouncers, they think they are like the presidents security guards.. (which they are obviously not, and thanks to a bust up with my friend they now have to have their SIA licences on show, hahaahah)

Yeah don't get me wrong, it can also be who your with rather than where you are! to some degree! but yeah, people wouldn#t get away with that in say Manchester, MK lacks culture and so does it clubbing scene, Sanctuary was the only place worth going in MK!

actually, no offence but the reason these are on show is due to the new law passed last year. every bouncer, SHOULD be showin these at all times.

i thought the reason was to prove that they had to be there rather than having a choice!!!! damn if i was ever seen in oceana i'd want people to know i had to be there and didnt go of my own free will.....lol ;)
