Fed up of making New Year’s resolutions that you’ll never stick to?
We’ve come up with a better way to get over the Christmas excesses - the Christmas Comedown
At Beatcheck on Friday 16th January you can renounce your resolutions and get back into the partying spirit aided by the power of underground dance music.
Or, to put it simply, retox, not detox.
Headlining will be Cut La Roc. A veteran of the dance music scene, he was a big part in Brighton’s notorious Big Beat Boutique which launched Fatboy Slim into megastardom. He is head honcho at Rocstar Recordings and interestingly set the world record for mixing with the highest number of decks - eight to be precise.
Also playing will be the Drum Monkeys. This odd couple is made up of the bizarre combination of an old-school rave star and a music journalist. Billy Borez was big news in the happy hardcore days, while Carl Loben is DJ Magazine music editor. The pair are both now into producing and have come together to create dancefloor rocking remixes of breakbeat tracks.
All of this will set you back just £2 before 10.30, meaning that a good night out will cost less that a fat-reduced, fully organic, home-bread, detoximicating cereal bar that you know you should eat but you cant just bring yourself to do it.
