H.A - What can we say!!!!? :)

Good gosh! First off I am sorry that this has been a while in the posting, after the weekend in question- well let’s just say that I am STILL getting over it all….;)

Almost one week ago after High Voltage on the Friday I had been met with two lots of news surrounding Hardcore Addiction for tye Saturday session. One: Sadly D.J Ten Tun could not make it for his set. Two: Mr Sparkle would be replacing him for the hour. At a strike of fate it all worked out with myself travelling there and back now with Mr S!

I arrived at Sparkle studio in good time on Saturday evening, C.D wallet in hand ready for the show on the following Sunday. I touched down a little later than planned at just before seven o clock. After a quick beer, and chat about the other night with Mr S and Aki it was all green for go in the Sparkle mobile down to Newbery!

Getting out of London was good as gold, a little traffic on a part of the motorway then a well earned break and burger at a services. I felt like I had lost several pounds at H.V the night before so didn’t begrudge myself a Angus burger! It went down a treat and for a funking fivea I should bloody hope so!!!!;)

After the initial pit stop it was al systems go to Newbery. I was still a little worried as I had been so ill on the previous nights journey to Bedford, all was well. Just as we started seeing signs to Reading The one, the only D.J Dangerous phoned, to check our position and see if we were making good time.
After confirming that we were on route he gave us the details of how to get top the club, and we made it without little failing- I say little as we snagged a tiny bit but nothing we couldn’t handle- WHO NEED’S TWAT CHAV!???;)

We secured the car in a hopefully safe parking space just round from the club it looked fairly quiet but you never know- (And were from London!) we made our way to the venue. I was waiting on Lady Brock getting there, as I was down with her and D.J Haribo’s set, I had never met both D.J’s before- but like the night it’s self I was very excited at meeting them and playing at this new fresh night of hardcore!

After a fair but polite search by security, and warm greeting by Dangerous himself (another face that I hadn’t met yet) it was straight in to Bar & Club Cuba. . .

It’s always a bit funny going out of your local area to play, as you know that the crowds going to be totally different- your not at home any more! Any how, the music was absolutely pumping out as we entered and I was struck by the dimensions of the club- it was fairly low with a nice long bar running half the length, with seating opposite. The dance floor was a nice intimate size too, with the D.J booth overlooking.

Quickly vacating for another toilet break and ordering the first pint of Wrongbow, it wasn’t long before D.J Brakon came over and introduced himself- TOP GUY and top to see you again mate! Looking round and there was none other than Lady Brock! After sipping the Strong stuff and saying OI OI, with a few photo’s to boot I thought it high time to get the mic checked out and kick start the party… H.A front man D.J Skippa came over and sorted it out straight away, adjusting the sound nicely. I took the last bit of Gwarski & Crystal J’s Hard dance set which was really of first class origin! They were thumping out the tunage which was really going down well with the heads already on the dance floor! Not knowing how the new crowed would be with me on the mic I just jumped straight in, and was happily met with a nice warm welcome. . .

Looking over - the main man with the steely microphone plan- Steely Dan was in the house!!!- All these first time faces- it was like through the key hole or something I tell ya!;)
All of a sudden Lady B and Haribo were lined up ready to press start on the decks and wreck their set! I have heard Lady Brock play many a time before on H.N radio and various mixes, she smashes the Freeform then can switch any time to D & B- this would be good! Not disappointing both D.J’s smaaashed it with smooth mixing and a thumping selection of free Form & hardcore- then out of know where the D & B hit home and the place was jumping!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

During this time I had spotted MiDJe from Chemical Generation and sent a couple of boosts out to him and the crew! Time flying the way it does, it wasn’t long before London’s finest stepped up- Mr Sparkle & D.J Dangerous! Sadly I wasn’t down to host this set, but happily passed over to CUZEN MC- another face that I had been looking forward to meeting. Cuzen stepped up. Keeping it tight on the mic, he hosted a good set as Sparkle and dangerous treated the Newbery crew to an exclusive London Eruption F.M showdown- their style their way! Mario tune and all this was a very good set!

Shortly after this if my memory serves me correctly Ashpy & Pegsy took over and Cuzen switched with an MC that I have yet again heard about but not until know actually heard MC TUCKSKI!- this guy stepped the whole place up- awesome crowed hype skills and a fine array of fast paced lyrics just what we like!!!!!!! To say that he smashed it is an understatement and I for one defiantly want to be seeing more of this guy on the scene!
I took a much needed break and pint in the chill out area, which was strangely similar to that of Club Life's Chill out area. . .

Again with time ticking, Cuzen stepped up to blast of MiDJe & Dandy Crouch’s set. To say that this went off was yet again another total understatement- playing upfront with drops that make Thorpe Park look ‘weak’! Cuzen MC stepped it riiight up for his home team’s set and took the place apart, first class performance and the crowed loved it all the way!

I was asked to on next with the mighty G Fresh and Skipa yet again elevating the dance skywards-
Steely Dan slammed it home yet again really making his come back presence known to the crew! It is really nice when the vibe holds out until the last and it did just that here. Breakon rounded the night off with Ninety sadly we had left by then but it kept you addicted it kept you HARDCORE!
I really enjoyed the vibe tremendously and after finding my coat we had to do one, to get back to Sparkle studio for my happy Nation show in the morning!

In short: A NEW, TOP CLASS, well structured good vibe of an event- with first class performances all round. To top it off, the crowed really showed that the vibes are well and truly alive Newbery style!

I’d like to say a PERSONAL thank you to Skippa and all concerned with the staging of Hardcore Addiction. Lady Brock who secured my booking here, bless. D.J Dangerous for asking Sparkle to step in for a legend that is Ten Tun, and all the crew that came, had a good time and raved it up!

NEXT HARDCORE ADDICTION: 28th March- Club Life- London Vauxhall-
