Once again we come around to the start of the weekend, I know this is going to be a wicked show tonight, But 1st i phone around to see who is coming out tonight, Only a couple are coming tonight so i pick them up and i leave my place of residence, Its 8pm, theres diesel in the tank, i got my fags and i am off like a shot out of a shotgun, Down the tarmac heading east towards Newport, I am weaving in and out the traffic its more like an arcade game than a serious drive to RETRO, The music is banging on the outward bound journey as always, Tonight i play a bit of hardstyle, and my choice for tonights journey is BURNELL ultimate hardstyle 3 an awesome compilation to get me in the mood for tonight, Soon enough the junction i see next is the one i require, junction 26 coming up fast, The bryn glas tunnels are ahead but as usual i dont go through them, i hastily turn off just before them and then i head towards Newport town centre, This journey is getting so familiar now that i could do it blindfolded, but i wouldnt try it, hahaha, We have reached our destination and it bail out time, i am there just after 1/2 past 8, I do my usual checklist, and i have got all that is required for tonight, i already done my audit of stuff i need before i came out tonight, forward thinking comes in handy see !!! I pass by the the queue as usual, and i am in RETRO once again,

Already i can hear bouncing hardhouse being played, i try to make my way to the decks, but as usual i say hi to everyone who knows me and eventually make it to the decks, On the decks 1st were the STIMULATE representatives Nicky p, Andy R, Alan B, They playa brilliant set between them, ive seen these play before, and they do exactly what it says on the tin, HARDHOUSE at it's best, And the STIMULATE crew play it the best, A few weeks back i went to see them at another AUDIO DEPRIVATION night and i was well impressed with them, like then, they played bouncing tunes they played 1/2 hour each on the decks, this would have been a wicked set to recorded, but it wasnt recorded, maybe they could sort that out in the future, wink wink nudge nudge, A good crew to play at a hardhouse night these are, you wont be disappointed, book them now, I do not know what order these 3 were on, But this is what they played on the decks between them,

NICKY P: spun cracking vinyl, those were: EUPHONIC SESSIONS ~ Shindig. LEGEND B ~ Lost in Love (paul jones mix), COLIN BARRAT ~ Master Your Fears. TECHNIKAL ~ Found Some Gas (N2O), BIG TOOL 4 U ~ Just Cum,

ANDY R: Played UNTIDY DUBS 5 ~ Get Down. SPEEDO ~ Fat Beat. BEN & WILD EXPERIENCE ~ Extended Players E.P (groove damage), VOODOO ~ Glitch, JOE KING ~ Two Types Of People.

ALAN B: selection of vinyl were BK ~ Systematic, HTUK 17 ~ Indicator, STEVE BLAKE ~ I Get A Rush, BK ~ Playin With Knives, HTUK 5 ~ Love Shy,

And as always they had to finish their set, they went out banging and screaming, A great start to tonights AUDIO DEPRIVATION, Up next was JOLIF, He played a wicked fine set excellent tunes, but i didnot get a tracklist from this DJ so sorry for that, But you can take it from me that JOLIF spun class vinyl and i did enjoy his set, An excellent mixer on the decks, He had to build the night up the night for the next DJ who i didnot get a playlist from, And his name was CHRIS WILLIAMS. Because, These 2 DJ's shot off as soon as their sets were finished, CHRIS was a hard player on the decks, I am quite gutted that i didnt get to speak to either of these, but no doubt they had more pressing things to do tonight, CHRIS WILLIAMS played before our only female player tonight, He done a cracking job of keeping the clubbers on the dancefloor, And the next VINYL spinner was no other than........

THE TING: My god cant this lady play the decks, Nice, hard and fast just how i like it, And OH MY GOD she whipped this crowd up into a state of euphoric stomping nutters, THE TING was jumping around the booth, And she was 4 months pregnant, But she didnot let that hold her back, she gave it all, and the clubbers were loving it, A class set THE TING played, I know i will see her again in the future, If you aint seen her yet, Get and see her, THE TING is awesome/class/outstanding and all the other good things i could say about a DJ, It was great to even have a chat with her before and after playing her set, We do not get to see female DJ's that often down this way, and i must say these days they are getting so good, And this 1 was brilliant, It was wicked to see her give a couple of vinyl's away to a lucky women, And THE TING was only to happy to sign them for her aswell and she signed no end of other stuff for whoever wanted things signed, So i will said thanks to her for that from you lot, THE TING played the following tracks Mr DUDWEE MEETS WIGGLE ~ Flat Eric, MARC ET CLAUDE ~ Loving You 2002, TOM BERRY ~ Got 4 Me (remix), THE TING ~ Feeling You (sung live), THE TING ~ Are Am Eye (demonik remix), THE TING ~ Commander Tom (karim), What a show THE TING done for us tonight, We all enjoyed her set, i asked no-end of people and they really liked what she played and how she played, and it was good see her put so much energy into her set, stomping around and getting her hands in the air for everyone, THE TING was now coming to the end of her set, hope to see you again soon TING XXXXX, She went out banging whilst getting the place ready for the HEADLINERS of the night and that was.............

LAB4: What a set-up this duo had, it must have required a small truck to get all the gear down there, They were dressed up for their final gig in WALES, And for those who were lucky enough to see them you will know how they dressed, Very much like a couple of punk rockers from the late 1970s, The look was great as was the music, I must admit they were the DOGS BOLLOX, Not a vinyl in sight, The whole set was there own material i assume , The track they opened their wicked set with was called NEW STYLE an excellent track to open with i might say , They also gave the crowd a first listen to a newly written track called A MUSING BOOTLEG, And it has only been written in the lastweek so KYM their manager told me, KYM was very friendly, If you dont know KYM, unlucky for you !! KYM is not just the manager of LAB4 she is also happily married to one half of LAB4 (adam), Fortunately for me and all you fans of LAB4 i also managed to a quick interview them aswell, It was a moment i will always remember, As the both of them were great to talk to, They allowed me to hang around with them for the whole night, I will post this in the AUDIO DEPRIVATION thread, So take a gander at what i asked them and the answers they gave me. The 2 of them were brilliant on the synths, They both were having a whale of a time, The louder the crowd got the harder they played, I could see everyone was loving their music, ADAM & LES were getting the crowd going with the tunes they were blasting out, LAB4 also played CANDYMAN (encore) which was an awesome track, They were dripping with sweat and working hard on the keyboards, Another top track played by LAB4 was REFORMATION ll, followed by CONTACT LONDON which is taken from LAB4s album called LAbORATORY as were a few tunes that they played for us tonight, And as usual it all seemed to go so quick, And it really goes quick when you enjoy yourself, Soon enough it was time for LAB4 to come to the end of their set, And nobody wanted it to end, The crowd wanted more but they can only play for so long, We had LAB4 in RETRO and they were amazing, They showed us what they were capable of and everyone was happy with what they gave us, LAB4 then packed up there gear had a few more beers and made off into the night, KYM & THE TING were taking it easy whilst the gear was put away (sat on a chair) hahahahaha !!!! THE TING needed her rest as i said she was 4 months pregnant and what a performer she was tonight, So as LAB4 packed up it was time for the next DJ to do his thing on the decks...........

And the next player on the decks was no other than AUDIO DEPRIVATION (promoter) and representative DJ NASHY, This is another time that DJ NASHY was worried about how would he carry on the music after such a hard set that preceeded him, Well NASHY need not worry, He plays fantastic everytime i see him play, wheather it be HARDTRANCE, HARDHOUSE, NASHY can deliver the goods, He started his set off with a track that we had already heard tonight, But it was a different version it was a LAB4 track CANDYMAN remixed by GUYVER, a tidy version it was aswell, NASHY the worrier has got nothing to worry about, He plays many class tunes, mixes them in well, Just what everyone wants, HARDTUNES continue throughout his set, and a few of them were as follows, ANDY KLEEMILLS - Something In My House, followed by BARRY DISTON - Something In My House, An amazing track also by CAPTAIN TINRIB - Street Tab, Followed by ASTRIX - Fire, and a whole lot more tracks were played by NASHY, He delivered not only the line-up tonight but also a brilliant set by himself, NASHY told me he felt honoured to play after LAB4, Well NASHY we were honoured to have such a cracking line-up tonight. and next on the line-up after NASHY was.......

NEMESIS representative all the way from the far reaches of down west, well SWANSEA anyway, Its ROB DAVIES yeeeeeeeessss, ROB opened his set with a bootleg of MR OIZO - FLATBEAT ! That was a wicked banging tune, i have never heard it before, it started as it normally does then went into a awesome remix, The crowd were not disappointed with this 1st track, He went onto play an hour of bouncing off the wall tracks, The most memorable track he played i think was a track that had the OUTER LIMITS sample tune mixed into it this was by DJ RESH vs DAVE JAY & RIGGSY - Flatliner, What a tune i will admit, i could not get the tune out of my head even when i went home, At the time he was playing this i was propping up the bar and in deep conversation with a fellow clubber (markioa), I was deep in conversation but still it would not get out of my head, As ROB's set progressed i also heard another favourite tune from a day gone by, it was 4 MOTION - Over For Me, This was another brilliant tune spun on the decks by ROB DAVIES, The set was bouncing and so was the people on the dancefloor, A few more tracks this DJ played were TOM HAFFMAN - Hostel (Gigi Pussy Remix) then this was followed by D6 - Pill, Then JONAH - Shh Listen (Dark By Design Remix) Then another couple of tunes played were TAIKO SILENCE - DARREN STYLES Remix
SAMANTHA T-BONE - Feel It, and once again they think its all over, it is now, well for ROB DAVIES it is, And unfortunately for me it was aswell, 1 of my fellow clubbers i brought with me was hanging drunk and they did not want to stay any longer incase they fell asleep in the corner, That would have been a disaster, I would not want to leave with-out them so i had to leave RETRO for another week, I will say now, SORRY to NEIL C for missing your set, but you know what people get like when they are drunk, So i had to miss the last set, But i have promised him i will see him at his next gig without fail, So all in all tonight was an amazing night, apart from a bit of rumpus, but that was sorted out by the doormen, Every DJ played wicked sets, I am so glad i managed to see LAB4's last set in WALES ever, I look forward to seeing all partakers of this event in the future, So for now all you party people enjoy XMAS and have a banging NEW YEAR, NASHY keep up the good line-ups for 2007, looking forward to them already matey,

..........so this has been (the-darkside) with another review from the deepest darkest places in clubland........so as they say CIAO 4 NOW peeps.....

.....Thanks for you all coming to this event and making it what it was, AMAZING.....
