For Junes installment of Collision we are proud to present our Very Special 1st Birthday Extravagza. Always looking to out do our own standards we have not just brought back two of the years most popular headliners in the form of Gatecrashers Scott Bond and Legendary John kelly to the same event but we are also extremely proud to announce our biggest star to date, Yousef!!
Following the success of the last events assault of blistering trance provided by our exclusives Tylor Leigh and Greg Downey and the filth that was brought to you from Hightower, Stretch and Simon Biginelli we wait in eager anticipation for the June Birthday Special. Never before has collision been witness to such an array of high profile stars all on the same night and we have pushed ourselves to go better than our already exceptionally high standards.
Yousef
Yousef is a name synonymous with slick, jackin’ sleazy beats, edged with a aggressive and relentless groove. He is a DJ and producer that literally lives and breathes house music and who still practises his sets today - always trying to improve his technical abilities. He is also a DJ and producer that knows how to put the fun into house music and loves a good ‘Circus’. Now one of the UK’s top DJs, Yousef began his DJing quest in 1991, messing around on a friend’s set of decks after a night out at the infamous Shellys in Stoke.
As many DJs before him, he was originally influenced by Hip-Hop - until he developed a taste for house music. "There were a lot of local radio stations that began to play house, Hardcore and other early ‘rave’ music, and I was into this new sound." He says. Early sets from Carl Cox and later Roger Sanchez were the first to ‘blow his head off’, whilst more recently Derrick Carter, Sneak, Onionz and Laurent Garnier are his biggest influences.
Yousef has DJ’d all over the world, in places such as Miami, Australia, New York, LA, Sao Paulo, Rio, Buenos Aires, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Singapore, Paris, Madrid, Stockholm, Ibiza, Zurich, Jakarta, Africa, Ireland, most major clubs in every country in Europe and every major UK city.
Yousef sites his biggest accomplishments as being true to his roots (after his Cream residency had finished) and keeping house music alive in his home city by making Circus an essential night out in Liverpool, his Radio 1 residency and getting signed as 10,000 BC to Junior Boys Own. Other achievements include winning the ‘Best Breakthrough DJ’ award at 2001's Muzik Awards, mixing DMC’s 2002 compilation and writing a monthly column for Muzik, which he did so for two years. As well as appearing on the front cover on both IDJ magazine and Seven magazine.
More on Yousef
Scott Bond
Responsible for shaping the trance scene we know today through his residency at the legendary Gatecrasher from 1993 to 2003 whom he has recently rejoined forces with, Scott Bond has played at the best clubs across the globe from Gatecrasher to Cream, Wildchild to Frantic, Tidy to Turnmills, Godskitchen to Slinky. Internationally, Scott has had more world tours than the Rolling Stones taking in every continent and a total of 32 countries. He has mixed 10 Gatecrasher Albums, selling over 1
Million copies worldwide! Scott was easily one of our most popular guests of the year so we hope you welcome him back with as much excitement as the first time.
John Kelly
John Kelly was one of the forefathers of dance music in his early house music days, then progressed with the changing style of music into pumping trance/party sets. John has in the past been resident at Cream in Liverpool, and Manumission in Ibiza, and has played at most of the top clubs and festivals in the world. He is one of our own personal favourites from the height of our clubbing days and comes attatched to many nostalgic memories and talks of how it used to be. We have managed to give you the best of both worlds, as he will be playing a house set in the Underground room, and also a trance set upstairs in the Twisted room. This is a great opportunity to see a legendary DJ on your doorstep.
Stu Grady & Joel D
Both Extremely popular local heroes with a great talent and always rip it up when they perform for the Collision crowd. Stu Grady promoter and resident DJ at the very popular 'Journey' in Cardiff can also boast winning the best up and coming Welsh DJ award at the WMA, and playing at the Gatecrasher tour events and Time Flies. Joel D boasts a residency at the hugely popular Syndicate Superclub in Bristol and gets nothing but great reviews everytime he plays.
