A night of Core from start to Finish
If this is a sign of things to come then I have to say Dougal has done well.

We arrived before it opened and there was only a few people in front of us, keeping the crowd entertained were jugglers and poi, gave me an opportunity to start my picutre taking.
Handing out the guaranteed entries were Dougals sister and I think his mum, both of whom were sound, quick piccy of them and then we were through the door.
Dance floor quickly filled up as the JBZ crew were kicking out some stompin tunes for the first hour, no warmup here people we are off from the word go!

A quick hunt around the venue showed us the dancefloor was quite small but the surrounding area and the top floor, which was essentially balcony all the way around, provided room for all the ravers who were on they're way.
The usual stalls were around, Laughing gas, professional photography and the tapepacksuperstore were there too with the glowsticks, whistles, horns and all the rest you'd expect. They even had metal whistles, my personal favourite.
Chillout areas were available too, large rooms either side of the main arena with sofas, could see those getting filled later...

With the JBZ crew finishing off the next DJs were a couple I have not heard before. Delicious and Compulsion kept the pace going and the dance floor completely packed out and spilled over int the rest of the arena, after all this is hardcore we dance anywhere and everywhere..
I was really impressed with the Delicious Compulsion set, I don't know how long they have been around but they kept me stomping all the way through, keep an eye out for these guys.

With the arena filling up we were treated to the bossman Hixxy, introduced by the one and only Storm, the atmosphere was building now and the system was pumping, Hixxy played a wicked set, with the RBC style in full effect. Dropping Never Too late, a remix of Are you sure and Pullover.
It was starting to get really hot in the arena now but with the bar allowing free refills on bottled water I wasn't complaining, there was more core coming through and up steps the main man of the event, DJ Dougal himself.

Wearing a huge smile Dougal led us through an Essential Platinum bonanza, dropping Drive Me Crazy, Rockin with the best and How did I get here in the first half of his set.
Nextup, All the tears i've cried accompanied by the whizzkid singing the emotional tune Free at last.
The tunes were brought down and Whizz made a short speech bigging up Dougal for the night and asking for appreciation, which he got in spades, everyone knew this was Dougals night and the whistles and horns kept the atmosphere electric as we were treated to See the light.
Dougal carried on this journey of happy style core with the dance floor smasher Make some noise and mixing that into Tell me a story, hands in the air time!
He finished with the crowd pleasing classic Shining down which personally I have heard too many times but hearing it out it takes me everytime, the crowd goes wild, the atmosphere is buzzin and you just know its one of those tunes.

Following on from Dougal we were back to the RBC with Styles, Storm on the mic. A load more atmosphere bulidng noise and we're off. Styles took us through the nu-mix of I've got a feeling, Love comes, Sunshine and Jealous, Storm didn't let up either keeping the pace going spitting lyrics and keeping the crowd in touch.
Nearing the end of the set and we get the new Quosh tune My Phantasy, hands in the air crew! Styles has one final tune for us and its the spine tingling Save Me, the whole crowd was singing along, Styles had a massive smile and all was good with the world.

Gammer was next to the stage, now i'm not always a fan of Gammer sets but this night was United in Hardcore and Gammer did not disappoint, his style of upbeat hardcore tunes but with slammin bass lines kept me jumping. Rockin us with a slammin remix of 24-7, Still the one aided with kick drum and Inspiration. We were also treated to the hands in the air sway along Braveheart tune and a fitting finish with My angel.

3 O'clock was upon us and there was one final DJ, who else but the Scratchmaster himself. Sy lead us in with On and On and then I had to head out to do flyering, didn't matter much though as we could hear the tunes almost clear as day from outside the building!

Time will tell whether this new monthly event will generate the same amount of people everytime but if this start off is anything to go by then Dougal has a winner on his hands.

If there was a downside to the night it was that Dougal did not play the old school hardcore set as promised on the flyer, lets hope he does this at the next event, go on Dougal we want some old skool happy hardcore from ya ; )

Big shouts go out to my ravin' buddies Jojo and Rob, Andy and crew from Northampton, the one like Astraboy, the R2TG crew, the Sminted crew and the xx girls.
