Monkey Nuts: The Dirty Monkeys News Letter

Following the success of our December launch party Dirty Monkeys, and with 808state joining us on the 27th Jan we head full on into our monthly residency at Northampton’s newest club Rocket. Already home to the legendary Sessions Parties, Rocket has gone under extensive refurbishment and now boasts a brand new sound and lighting system all encapsulated in one dark room, Rocket is without doubt the perfect venue for the dirty monkeys to unleash their distinctive sound of dirty-tech-ridden house, electro and breaks.

The launch saw the dirty monkeys residents being joined by Elite force and Nufrequency, who laid the foundations for the future parties with a storming set delivered by each, and as this latest update is being written we are gearing ourselves up for the one and only 808State….as always the residents warm the crowd up and leave them wanting for more.

Yep after all our work being host to some amazing DJ’s Dirty Monkeys are proud to present- the residents- don’t miss this star-wars inspired (yes we are all geeks, we know) gathering where the main focus is having a good old boogie to some filthy noise- (watch out for the stormtrooper doing the guest list lightsaber stupid-ness and princess Leah on the decks, might be a messy one!)

Residents Update.

Audio Jackers…
If production, & Dj’ing wasn’t enough these boys have taken on more projects & started Dirty Monkeys with Lil Jo. The new night got off to a pretty amazing start with, (without question) the best party in town on the night (hell yeah, we know how to throw a good party).
Phing - (Their new track) is getting some amazing support from (amongst others) The Scumfrog, Deepgroove (future DM guests) Hernan Cattaneo & Darren Emmerson himself!

Phing reaches number 39 in the hype chart!

After impressing the crowd with their last performance, down the hill at Turnmills, they helped kicked off the New Year with a traditional FREE PARTY on Saturday 7th January.

The night featured some of the DJ/Producers Turnmills are tipping for big things in 2006!

Little Jo…..

(there’s been clubs where she has just managed to see over the decks) has been involved in the music scene for a few years now, she has written for both I-DJ and M8 magazines on a freelance basis both reviewing nights and chatting to some of the world best DJ’s for features. With all that raw exposure to the music industry it seemed logical for a career as a DJ and Promoter to follow
Playing a combination of deep house, guitar driven electro and chunky breaks, with a bit of a punk twist (!?) Jo is swiftly developing her own distinctive sound. After playing at various local nights and as a resident for United Colors of House, Jo decided to take its all one step further and got involved with setting up dirty monkeys.

The launch of dirty monkeys has given Jo her own residency and the chance to spread her wings; it will see her playing alongside the some of the worlds finest DJ’s. She is branching in to using technology like final scratch and Ableton Live in her sets and Dirty Monkeys will be a night which pushes the boundaries both musically in visually.

Locked away in the studio these guys are churning out the tunes, more news next time as when we asked them for an update all we got was grunts and our monkey hands stuck in the studio doors….

Its still got all the 808 state stuff on, but it is really cool, got the mix in the background, modern technology is cool, dont have to wait hours for the download, and then it breaking in the middle
