Hed Kandi, Northampton
We arrived at the venue a little before 11pm to find an almighty queue! Despite Nadina winning a competition for 'VIP Guestlist' we still had to wait over half an hour in a line of other 'guestlisters' which seemed to be alot considering it was the opening night.

After we entered the club we were greeted by friendly staff and an elaborate entrance. The carpet built us up to what we expected, what looked like a converted conference room, but was compensated by an amazing sound system and a monsterous lighting system. Top marks for that!

As I always do, I drifted into the other rooms to check out what was on offer... Being stopped in the way by Sal-Star, who greeted us enthusiastically. She remembered our names which was a pleasant suprise as many promoters are not as dedicated. - Showing a passion for her line of work. Cheers Sal!

The first room being the main room hosted by Hed Kandi was bursting at the seams (in a good way) making it hard to escape into the corridor leading to the other rooms.

The Second room "The Blue Room" mainly serving up RnB music and a tad bit of funky house.
RnB not being to my taste but more noticeable was the Air Con which the Main Room seemed to lack. I then ventured on...

Down on the ground level, There were two rooms and an outdoor smoking area.

The room that greeted us as we hit the bottom of the stairs was thrashing out some kind of Old Skool hip hop on a system that couldnt seem to handle the loud levels of sound.

The Fourth and final room, if you can call it a room. Was more of a chill out pad, come empty restaurant. - Nice idea to have a chill out room with some tunes playing in the background but I would've done more to the hosting room like add a few more sofas.

Back up in the Hed Kandi Room things had livened up even more. A guy playing on the Bongo's added to the atmosphere of a top night, as well as 2 jaw-dropping dancers, well done girls!
Of course all the spotters that were there (including myself) were hanging around this part of the room getting some good snaps.

Thanks goes out to the DJ's, Dancers, The percussionist and to all those involved who made the opening night that extra bit special.

Overall, the night was reminiscent of a London bash and in my opinion, it's exactly what Northants needs! - Good job guys!

9/10

Something for consideration...

Giving that the place is converted from function rooms. White draped ceilings would give it a more clubby feel.

Yes - you'll get used to that - it's because so many people are used to 'togs on holiday charging for pics. Which is most people's contact with them if DSI isn't big in their area.

Will i totally agree with you, everything was so well thought out, from expensive looking lighting, great brands and burbger vans, right down to plastic bottles to protect those of us that would rather not have a bottle in our face, i do think the venue itself (other than the entrance) felt a bit to much like a function room, i also thought it needed some form of club decor, everything else was tip fuckin top.

See you there for the freemasons.
