This article is about FUNKdeluxe @ The Rush House @ The Rush House in Northampton (UK), Sat 13 Oct 2007
The providers of ‘music for a funked up generation’ are about to go one big step further! Having been conceived two years ago by Vince Robertson and Egoiste, Funk Deluxe have quickly grown in to becoming everyone’s favourite smaller House and Electro brand. Due in 2007, they have been providing the perfect backdrop at parties such as Passion, Storm and Polysexual; not forgetting their successful trip to Ibiza this Summer which saw them co-hosting at events such as Manumission and Judgement Sundays.
The ethos of Funk Deluxe is a straight forward and honest one with their aim of giving it their best shot and putting 100 per cent effort in to every event with everything right down to the selling of tickets and advertising. They aim to introduce freshness and give something a little different with say not just playing Electro for the whole night but breaking things up; even having their own resident percussionist..
Now choosing to focus their efforts more on nights in the Midlands, they have found their new home at Northamptonshire’s brand new venue the Rush club. The 1200 capacity venue first opened its doors on the 4th August welcoming Hed Kandi. The place was rammed with people out for a good time and glamorous looking girls, with the eye candy factor being distinctly high! They all danced underneath the disco balls through the clouds of smoke and rays of green and blue laser lights, to the sound of the bongos.
With the exception of a couple of clubs like Fever, Northamptonshire has been known better for clubs containing ‘lager boys’ listening to cheesy pop music, so the Rush club came as a great welcome. It’s situated in the small town of Irthingborough, near Wellingborough, making it within easy reach of Northampton, Birmingham and Leicester.
An elaborate entrance greets you on arrival where after walking through that you’ll find the club split in to four rooms with its own cocktail bar, it’s highly modern in design and offers a stylish and sexy, but unpretentious vibe. The club is spacious and offers plenty of tables and leather seating, so you’ll never be short of anywhere to chill out. The rooms and its pillars are illuminated by electric blue and neon pink light giving it an intriguing look and the sound and lighting systems are truly awesome. The club is well served by its friendly and attentive staff. They also have their own dedicated smoking area outside for those that fancy popping out for a sneaky ‘salmon and trout’ With plenty of car parking space outside and its own dedicated taxi service, getting there and back should never be a problem.
Due in a short space of time the venue has already entertained another visit by Hed Kandi and a night with Judge Jules which was rocking to a crowd of up for it party people. Now come Saturday the 13th October Funk Deluxe land at the Rush House promising to deliver some funky and groovy House beats; sizzling Electro House; deep down and dirty House; some soulful numbers; the progressive and tribal stuff; with some baseline noises.
All coming courtesy of a hand picked DJ line up including the Ibiza conquering Egoiste; DMC’s very own production manager Guy Garret, although being Funk Deluxe’s newest recruit , he has over 21 years experience behind the decks. Funk FX get set to push the musical boundaries, with their thrusting styles, which are always guaranteed to set the party alight. You can also catch them every Saturday evening, performing on Funk Deluxe’s radio show between 18.00 – 20.00.The man who has been one of the most promising new stars in the Electro House scene Audiodice will be putting on another highly energised show. The fine Polish export Adam Poz makes his second Northamptonshire appearance. In room two the business gets taken care of by ‘Born to dance’ with Katnapperz supporting things nicely in the third room. The seven hours of fun will reflect just how much Funk Deluxe has grown of late. There group on DSI is now larger than any other forum on there. Why not make it even bigger and CLICK HERE to join! Last month they co-hosted at Classique arenas second birthday party with Paul Oakenfold, Judge Jules and Riley and Durrant @ The national Skydrome arena in Coventry.
The rest of 2007 sees Funk Deluxe booked up solid, appearing at high profile nights up and down the country. In October they’ll be providing the distinct cutting edge House and Electro sound at Paul Van Dyk @ The Emporium Coalville, taking part in the save ‘B2T’ campaign @ the Subway in Birmingham. November may be a cold and frosty month, but they will be cooking things up nicely down in the smoke @ Dirty Dubbin, then on to Hard Dances fastest growing brand Nu-Religion @ The Coliseum. Trips back up to Birmingham beckon where they’ll be playing their part at Polysexual @ Air and Sundissential’s monster 11th birthday party bash.
Adding to all that Funk Deluxe will once again be the host brand, delivering the goods back at the Rush House on the 17th November and Christmas comes early as they make a night out of it on the 15th December.
