Right then!

I feel it would be best to begin with and explain the main room situation.

Before the night, myself and Jervis agreed that we would move the 800's, which are normally in the main room, to room 3. This was so UK Scene (who were hosting room 3) had CDJ's. To replace the 800's in the main room, Jervis was to bring 1000's. Now, the problem with that was that at 9.10 I found out that Jervis was still stuck in Buxton, trapped by a closed road and the snow. See here for a full explanation.

Thankfully, Dane-volve, who lives close to The Venue, offered to go home and fetch his own CDJ's (Stanton's), as we had no idea what time Jervis would be down. N.B The main room was to open at 9 but Sair had a family crisis and wasn't able to make it. So, with minutes to spare, Gummie and Dane-volve kicked things off in the main room at 9.45.

An hour later, myself and JKO took over from Gummie and Dane-volve slightly pumping up the system. The side effect of this was that the Stanton's started to skip and no matter what we tried, we couldn't stop it. Noticing the problem and with Cruze due to start soon, Fat Cunt (sorry mate, don't know your real name) went home to his to fetch his 100's which were a bit more robust.

Things started to flow from this point, Cruze rocking the crowd and getting everyone on the floor. Halfway through his set, Jervis arrived and we were able to connnect up his 1000's.

Now I don't know what happened from the point of connecting up the 1000's but later on in the night, I know DJ's were complaining about the bass and the monitor dropping out, especially on Hoj's set. In my defence to a comment made by Hoj on a seperate post, when I first heard about the problem I went to sort it out straight away rather than the 'numerous complaints to the promoter' as stated. Unfortunatley, I haven't been able to speak to all the DJ's so I don't know exactly when the problem's occured but we will be looking into it.

So, all in all, lots of small un-foreseeable circumstances contributed to a bigger problem on the night. I'd like to say at this point that its unfair to point fingers and try to assume blame on anyone in particular. I know Jervis was upset at his delay but there was nothing that could of been done, especially when it comes to the weather. On that note, I'm starting to get a little bit f**ked off with the weather we've had at the last few events. October, November, December and this last one have all been wet, windy, rainy, snowy, blowy, whatever. Bloody annoying, I tell thee. Bring on the sunshine!

So, on to the rest of the night. Rooms 2 and 3 were both rocking all night long. I know the DnB set in room 3 went down well. I also thought Alan Banks in room 2 was superb. S.W.A.P and Sanj made great debuts and it was good to finally get you both down.

With regards to comments about DJ's recieving a + 1:

We decided to change our policy for this event as we've lost a lot of money in the past from not charging. With over 30 artists and a few others, total on the free guestlist was around 40. If every one of them had a plus one that'd be around 70-80 in for free and thats just not possible. I'm sorry for those who feel its ill practice but its not a requirement and in defence, £5 wasn't a lot to pay considering the quality of the line up.

I do understand where people are coming from though, so I think in the future, we will revert back to our policy of charging a reduced price for + 1's. Like I said to Jervis on the night, we are not Raindance and simply cannot afford to let so many people in for free.

I feel people need to understand the situation we have with The Venue though. We are charged to hire out The Venue, have to pay for all DJ's and all promotional material. I don't want to go into exact figures but I will tell you that after 7 events, we haven't broken even. We have put thousands into Sensation and taken less than half back which leaves us thousands in the red. That said, I feel some comments are unjust. This event is for you, the ravers and if the previous comments don't convince, I don't know what will.

To finish off, I'd like to say a big thanks to Dane-volve, Gummie and Fat Cunt for helping us out with the CDJ's. I'd also like to say thank you to DJ Breaks and Glyn-C for coming down. It was nice to meet you.

A big thanks to go all the DJ's and MC's who performed in what can only be described as dire circumstances. As I said to Hoj, I liken Friday to a football game. It was one of those nights were nothing went right but it wasn't for a want of trying. We just had no luck. I'm sure other promoters can relate to this. As a friend of mine once said, "It can't be Christmas every day".

Thanks for having me down Mike, enjoyed it despite the CD'J / Sound issues etc...

These things do happen and at least you have the decency to come on-line and explain in detail to everyone.

Looking forward to coming back in March and hopefully luck will be on your side for future events.

C U soon

Right venue, wrong location, shame really as if it had been more in a city centre you'd have no problems filling it!

Did you get many in when the bar's kicked out? Saw loads of people on the streets when we left the venue about 3.00

Sound in the main room sounded ok from what I heard.

Thanks for having me down also Mike:) I didn't really have any problems during my set except for having no sound through thorugh one of the channels on the left hand cdj on my headphones..i don't know whether this affected the sound on the dance floor tho!?

Like Smashey said..the venue is an amazing venue..it's the location the doesn't help it! The only event to have had any success there is Bedlam..and even then they're success wasn't what i should have been, especially with the line ups they had! Line ups like they had anywhere else would have had the place packed out!

I hope i played well for you mate, and you would hopefully consider me down again in the future:)

Good luck for the future...

yea i think the problem was the headphone port which was why sometimes it went off in your headphones
