EVIL EDDIE RICHARDS (Fabric/Wiggle) "Britains godfather of house & techno"

With Wahalla Residents: Si Yeats & Kostas G

It has been a very busy time for Eddie Richards, dance music’s quintessential pioneer and "Britain’s godfather of house and techno" (Mixmag). He was one of the first DJ’s to champion house back in the mid 80’s and one of the UK’s original mix DJ’s residing at London s Camden Palace, voted best club in the world by the Record Mirror. Eddie became a key figure in a new music and cultural movement soon to explode worldwide.

After playing at such influential and original underground clubs such as Clink St., Heaven in London, and Manchester’s Hacienda, Eddie went on to headline legendary UK raves such as Sunrise, Energy, and Helter Skelter among countless others. Remix and production work led to the release of the club classic; Acidman in 1988 which hit National Top 20 and was followed by other chart topping remixes of Ralphi Rosario, Orbital, and The Shamen.

Since the mid 80’s he has been included in virtually every book, documentary, and film on the dance culture and sought after all over the world for his flawless mix of deep, bass-driven techno with soulful & tough tribal house: a format he has always maintained, and has led him to be widely regarded as the pioneer of what is today known as TECH-HOUSE!!

Most recently Eddie has been devoting more time to music production, releasing & licensing tracks with labels in the UK, Europe & USA including: End Recordings, Hypervinyl, Absurd Recordings, Matter/Form, SoCo Audio, Northern Lights, LHB, & his own labels Lunar Tunes, Dy-na-mix & Storm which have all been getting excellent reviews & chart placing from respected Djs around the world. The Dark EP licensed to Visitor records in Belgium & released in November 2001 remains their all time best seller.

Besides his long-standing residency at Wiggle (London’s best known true underground parties), Eddie can be found spinning regularly at Fabric.

He once travelled over 97,000 miles (a distance of more than four times around the world) to spin at 40 parties, in 26 cities, in 10 different countries, all in the space of 3 months!!

We are very, very excited to be showcasing Eddie’s talent here in Oxford. Don’t miss out on the chance to see this maestro performing in the perfectly-intimate surroundings of The Cellar. Dim lights, smoke, friendly faces, and deep, pounding house & techno! We cant wait!

For a little taster go to eddierichards.net and check out his mixes.

Move your feet!
