Room 2: featuring PEEPSHOW & SKYLARKIN'
with Peepshow Paddy, Aidan Skylarkin' & Guests

X-Press 2 first burst onto the international club scene in 1993 with the demented sirens, typewriter-noise percussion and dance floor pyrotechnics of 'Muzik Express'. The three DJs, Ashley Beedle, Rocky and Diesel all from unfashionable suburbs of London, had each played leading roles in the capitals cooler, more influential club scenes. Further early records, such as 'London X-Press' & 'Say What', were played by DJs as influential as Pete Tong and New York's Junior Vasquez.

When their records began to get, as Ashley puts it, "more oblique", the three were content to put X-Press 2 aside and move onto other projects, and the three moved effortlessly into jazzier, funkier, more downbeat arenas with their internationally respected Ballistic Brothers team-up.

In April of 2000 X-Press 2 found themselves back together on the road and in the studio. In 2001 they released the mighty 'AC/DC' and The boys were back in town. Into 2002 the singles 'Muzikizum' and the number 1 smash, 'Lazy' followed before the lads dropped their debut album also titled 'Muzikizum', the album was critically acclaimed and charted at a very creditable number 15 in the national charts. A massive success.

With their dazzling six deck DJ performances that used effects-ridden mic performances from Ashley, CD-players and basic samplers, it’s sure to be an event to remember!

Last year saw the boys release the huge 'Give It', another single to break into the mainstream, whilst new single 'Kill 100' is currently rocking floors the world over. The new X-Press 2 album, ‘Makeshift Feelgood’, is due out at the beginning of October.
Joining us in Room 2 are two of Oxford’s best-loved and most established nights, Peepshow and Skylarkin’. Peepshow, fronted by the effervescent Peepshow Paddy, has been established since 2003, and has brought the likes of Mylo, Hexstatic, The Egg and Ulrich Schnauss to Oxford.

Skylarkin’, with the ubiquitous Aidan Larkin at the helm, has just celebrated it’s 4th birthday with the Nextmen. Famed for their parties at The Zodiac on the last Thursday of each month with the legendary DJ Derek, Skylarkin’ has brought the likes of Daddy G (Massive Attack), Ska Cubano, The Topcats and Max Romeo to Oxford over recent times.

See you all down the front…
