You are, without doubt, one of the hardest working men in Hard Dance probably releasing more tunes each year than any other DJ. How many tunes would you say you’ve released and sold since you started writing?

It all began back in 1999 with Phlash! feat Steve Hill "Get A life (Frantic Theme)". That sold over 27,000 copies! Since then I've made close to 200 tracks / remixes that have been commercially released. Last year I made 50 tracks for release and this year I hope to do the same. It's all about quality not quantity so there are more than that but they sit on the cutting room floor if they don't work on the dancefloor.
I know you have released tunes under various different guises and pseudonyms over the years, would you care to tell us a bit more about that?
I sort of regret recording under so many guises because if I just stuck to the one name you'd know exactly what I was responsible for. I am Mr. Bishi, Kumara, Nylon, Masif DJ's, Neon Lights, Nu Renegades, Phlash!, Volts Wagen, DJ Meister and many more. I can't remember them all myself!
What are the top 5 “must play” tunes in your box at the moment Mr Hill?
1. Steve Hill vs Dark By Design - FUTS (Masif)...crazy tune. Stands for F+*ked Up Twisted Shit!
2. Masif DJ's - Insane (Steve Hill v Cally & Juice / D.B.D. vs Alex Kidd) (Masif)...biggest tune in my box for months - still doing the business!
3. Neon Lights - Catch (Andrea Montorsi Mix) (Masif Sampler)...Kosheen done quality Hard Trance style by Italians finest!
4. Steve Hill / Hardforze / Pulsar - Unforgiven (Hardstyle Masif)...Metallica gets the Hardstyle treatment! The vocal is perfect for this!
5. Steve Hill vs Technikal - Euro Power...big big big Trancer like only Technikal can make!
What are your top 3 DJ moments in your illustrious career so far.
The three biggest moments for me would have to be:
1) Dropping my Basement Jaxx "Where's Your Head At" or Faithless "Insomnia" bootlegs for the first time at Hard House Academy. If you've ever wanted to see 5000 people BOUNCING off the walls at once - this was it!
2) Playing to 60,000 people at Dance Valley. Rocking. The DJ box was a little high so they had to give me a step so I could see over the decks! hahaha!
3) Going back to my hometown of Wellington, New Zealand for a gig after I'd made it in London. The first tune I dropped was my mix of Chakra's "Home". Pulled out my NZ passport held it in the air and the crowd went ballistic. Girls crying and stuff. Nuts! Will never forget that night!
I know you’re good friends with the mischievous Mr Gaz West (aka Dark By Design) who invented a dangerous little game called “Man Points”, which you then introduced to us the last time you were over! Would you explain to our members what the hell this sadistic, evil little game is all about?
Man points is so dangerous. You have to be careful because it very quickly gets out of hand. I played it twice last UK tour and the results were devastating. I still have footage of Mr. Juice after playing it for 5 hours! Basically you just say do something and you earn an amount of man points. The more competitive everyone is the dangerous the results. I could write what I've got people to do for man points but it's really not a good idea.
Where are you playing on this tour and where are you looking forward to playing most?
I'm looking forward to all the gigs on this tour because they are all so different. Classics at Timeless in London for Frantic is always a highlight. Last year was the first time I'd played in Wales and I just love the vibe there so am looking forward to some mayhem there at Breathe in West Wales especially. This tour I get to play for the first time in Northern Ireland as well so that will be something new to experience. By all accounts the crowds are mad so I think it'll be an enjoyable trip! I used to play in Ireland every 4 - 6 weeks when I used to be based in the UK and it was memorable everytime but never been to Northern Ireland.
You can catch Steve, alongside Cally and Juice and a host of other DJ’s at Ty-Coch (Ammanford) on 22nd Feb and Matisse (Haverfordwest) on 29th Feb.
