"What a night!"

Where to start... with a small discrete entrance, the venue could easily be missed if you didn't know where you were looking, however the beats resounding from inside were unmistakable from the very first track! With passers by stopping to look and see what all the fuss was about, it was looking set to be a good night.
Upon first venturing inside the venue, I found Zipsta, (the promoter of PURE NRG), putting the finishing touches to the decor and sound and lighting systems, with the help from a few great guys, namely Graham, Dan, Ben, Shaggy & Justin. With alot of last minute rushing about, Zipsta and the rest of the team managed to get the final pieces of the puzzle in place just before people started arriving for what was set to be a remarkable night.
With Chris Williams kicking off the night downstairs in AJ’s Bar, at an early start of just 8pm, playing some of the very best in Hard Trance music, the night was off to a good start musically. Unfortunately the ravers were slow to arrive at the beginning, however those that were there were enjoying the excellent track selection and mixing skills of this very talented DJ.

A few locals who stopped in to see what the night was all about declining to pay the very reasonable door tax of just £5, to the dismay of the staff who were putting the event on. However as the night wore on, some returned too pay and the turnout was of a good level for the size of the venue, especially for a first event.
With the event up and running, and ravers arriving in dribs and drabs, there were three rooms for the ravers to choose from. With the entrance room, (AJ’s Bar), playing some of the very best in Hard Dance & Hardcore Breaks, and just a walk through the back and up the stairs into the main room at Dissident Nightclub, with a fine selection of Hardstyle & Hardcore, and the smaller back room of the club offering the very best in Electro House. Also hosting a cosy outside smoking area, this venue was shaping up quite nicely as a regular event nightspot for the aforementioned promoter.
It was a pleasant change for myself to be at an event that wasn’t exclusively Hardcore, but still within the Hard Dance Genre. Appreciating the diversity of the sets, from Hardcore to Electro, and everything in between, it was also nice to see diversity in the DJs themselves. From rising star DJ Untouchable, a super talented 19 year old female DJ

to the very experienced and established older Duo of DJs known as John & Ualda Huje,

every single DJ absolutely smashed it up on Saturday night!
With a great crowd of people in and a very reasonable bar tariff, what a winning combination it proved to be. The atmosphere at the event was second to none, with only one minor misunderstanding all night, and some of the friendliest security I have ever met in the clubbing industry, safeguarding the well being of the event and everyone within it.
Having had a chance to chat to various Ravers and DJs during the event, the feedback was all very positive, and according to the promoter, he has already had a number of enquiries as to when the next event will be. With exposure from Kiss Fm, ESP (a local Peterborough magazine), and IDJ Magazine, the event seems to have already made an impact within the scene locally and further afield. So make sure you watch this space for details of the next night hosted by new up and coming promoter Zipsta.

When asking the promoter if there was anyone he would specifically like to thank, he replied quite rightly that there was no I in TEAM, and would like to thank everyone involved, as without any of them it would not have been possible. So thank you all, and see you at the next event!
