THE FUTURE OF UNDERGROUND CLUBBING IN PLYMOUTH
i just wanted to say a few words on how i feel about what i think about Favela before i spill the beans on last nights shenanigens (bare with me!)

THE FUTURE OF UNDERGROUND CLUBBING IN PLYMOUTH

A bold claim i know and i'm not in anyway bigging myself up here it's all about the music the people and the atmosphere i.e - the whole experience! and what an experience it's been since Favela opened up as a multi level club in Plymouth! The bar staff are the friendliest most competant, the security are the most proffesional (and actually do their job properly) the manager Omar has accepted me not only as a trusted colleage but as a good friend and in all the years i've been promoting/working in clubs i've never known anyone to be so genorous, kind, reliable and to use the word again- "professional" add all that with the variety of dj's,producers, promoters, and colouful happy friendly party people and you've got a winning formula! a veritble festival/outdoor rave vibe in a club! (i know conceptually that's a paradox or whateva but u know what i mean! ) the feedback from the crowd about recent events has reinforced this notion and it's made me very happy to see everyone having such a good time and raving like it should be done without having to worry about their safety or wether the doorstaff are just as bad as the people they're supposed to be keeping out (counts for a lot in my book)
i look forward to the rest of this year and beyond cos it''s only gonna get bigger, better, stronger and without going into too much detail there's some pretty big things on the way!

Right onto last night, where to start!
d+bjungle.net down in the "bassment" level kept it urban and ting with a mixed night of dubstep and drum n bass, some very talented dj's including j-damm,general flava the one and only doomka, the bassment is the darkest room (in terms of lighting you understand!) which gives it a good quality in itself!

we heard excellent sets from crusty kev and dirty arry on the ground floor and what a treat was "man vs machine" - an improvised duo consisting of dj hopi mixing jazzy/funky drum n bass and a live drummer who just had me in complete awe as i watched their performance! absoloutley one of the best things i've seen in the club so far! that's what sets us apart from other clubs - where else could you see that in plymouth hehe plus all the previous live performances from shitmat, judith priest and jonny3snares and the like! so exciting!

upstairs on the top floor we heard incredible minimal techno from tom ellis and i played a selection of my favourite german repetetive ass shaking choons haha as i looked up from the decks and saw a big group of people arrive made up head to toe in u.v fluro regalia and head straight for the dancefloor with all the excitment of kids on christmas morning! moments like that make it all worth while! then a set of dark bassline breaks from rising talent dj dimpson,he worked the crowd with ease and really got the dancfloor heaving by that point, then we saw the phat controlla start the latter segment with a pounding psytrance set of relentless psychedelic beats,i then played a psytrance set kicking things off with a psy version of mc hammer's "u can't touch this" lol, working my way up to some epic tunes with build ups to make the place go nuts - which they did - which in return made me go even more nuts as i djed with a backdrop on my head that had fallen down and a glowstick in my mouth like a cigar! i did my usual over enthusiastic style of dj booth dancing that left every part of me aching afterwards but was worth it!
then - for the grand finale chris rich vs tom ellis playing their own material - now these two young local producers have been going from strength to strength in terms of production ability (i'd be lying if i said i was'nt very jelous, bastards!) as daylight began seeping in through the doorway out to the rooftop smoking terrace they absoloutley rippped the place apart with rolling dark basslines and searing savage soundscapes, squelches, blips, bleeps, noises i can't event describe! the hardcore remaining ravers stomped til the very end and everyone was left with a feeling of going on a magical journey out of their brains and into another dimension! keep an eye out for these two,big things ahead for them i feel!

bigger brighter stronger light wonder
rent dat hell asunder
groundswell bubblin' under

with soup of tamar
gabbarians go far
each a dimensional schizmatic star

cybernetica tamaria rising higher
hear the truth of the liar
controlled by no sire

contorted, re-thoughted
twistadelia supported
by stompers of the slaughtered

avit larger than ever before
from the house of stone's secret door
hear the truth as the fallen angels soar

in hod's sphere
good companions have no fear
favela flavas got devilfish to spear

all-seeing eye see praise
got da spirits to raise
serpent tail twist new ways

forward outta light into dark
always carrying the spark
bring 'em on to the ark

coven and covenant, magic made
by feet stepping high to soul aid
everyone happy, everyone paid

know where you go and from where you came
who to make wild, who to tame
treat one and all just the same

respect to the crew
enjoy the brew
dread-i see you

play it loud
humble not proud
it's all allowed

living the dream
for tamar's team
to the sound of the contort's full-on scream
