Portsmouth's Bar-Risa occupies one of the prime positions in the city's most prestigious site, the multi-million pound Gunwharf Quays development. The venue, is on the waterfront, surrounded by scores of upmarket shops, including factory outlets for numerous designer brands. Bar~Risa is a light airy cafe bar/mini club based on two floors, with a patio and balcony. Both Jongleurs and Bar~Risa can operate as one large venue or two separate areas for smaller functions and are licensed until 2am Monday to Saturday and 12.30am on Sundays. The venue has been used for a wide variety of events including band nights, fashion shows, discos and stage presentations. Bar~Risa's sound system is capable of around 98 decibels.
