This article is about KISS MY BASS episode3 @ Havana in Portsmouth (UK), Sat 30 Aug 2008
Kiss My Bass has become something of a labour of love for it's head honcho Fotza and his army of residents Udy, Neil Doc, Aimz & Eratik Behaviour. After many years chekcing out local nights plus plenty in London as well as being involved in Udy's Under Your Nose he thought it was time to add something to the mix. The idea was to create a PARTY, not just a club night. Exspensive guests not necessary for a night finding it's feet, just quality floor filling music from a handful of people who know how to do it.
The launch night happened Friday 6th June, the same week as version one of the website. DJ mixes were recorded and served up from Fotza, Udy and Aimz and the KMB bandwagon was starting to roll. The first event was a massive success, bigger than the crew had imagined but it was a clear that the effort put in was going to pay off. The catchy title, the party atmosphere and the severely heavy tunes sealed the deal. No sooner had the event finished the residents were getting booked up for Portsmouth's other great nights Phat n Durty, Waster, Overload at the Fort, Ricochet, Infectious plus involvement in Brighton's Brap.FM and Southampton's Out Of The Void...
The rest of June saw a break from the Havana whilst Fotza negotiated over a regular night and Udy toiled away on the website (trying to get it to look at least presentable in Internet Explorer). Not being ones to let the side down though Kiss My Bass staged a "secret" beach rave on Saturday June 28th featuring the residents plus special guests Evil-E and Daz. Once again a slew of people turned up, this time on top of the core crew a few more unknown faces appeared (free party anyone??!).
Saturday July 26th saw us heading back to Havana to stage part two proper plus the start of our regular run at the venue/bar. Also notable for also being the debut of guests on our actual club night Tom Mayhem and Ruined Jon stepped right up and delivered. Being a beautiful summer night the KMB crew will be the first to admit it took a while to get going but once it all kicked in it was once again party time.
So here we are.
The website is now fully functional at wwwkissmybass.co.uk and features news of all events of our own plus the ones we guest at. It also allows you to leave comments and download tons of mixes from the residents. It will also feature guest mixes, for instance August's event is host to Infectious boy Lee Martin and Errorhead Rogue State, both will have mixes appearing on the site in the coming weeks.
You can find August's event page here: KISS MY BASS episode3

You can sign up for the Kiss My Bass Podcast in iTunes here (meaning all mixes will automatically download when ready!): phobos.apple.com
Kiss My Bass goes from strength to strength and the only way it works is with an up for it crowd, something it has been blessed with so far. Why not come along and see what the fuss is about!
