Bank Holiday Rewind Session - Sure To Be A Sell-Out!
This August Bank Holiday, Portsmouth’s newest venue – the illustrious Liquid & Envy are very proud to present an exclusive opportunity to re-visit the ambience and atmosphere of the much loved and much missed Time & Envy nightclub, which was closed in 2007. Re-uniting many of the original Time & Envy residents from back in the day including Mark Hatton, Swingsta and some very special guests, the night is set to re-invoke the classic memories of bygone days at the fondly remembered venue by bringing back features such as the original DJ’s, lighting crew, podium dancers and fancy dress themes with beach balls and foam cannons to boot!
Originally located along South Parade as part of the Savoy Buildings until its closure and then recent demise, Time & Envy (owned by industry leaders Luminar) was a massive part of Southsea’s nightlife culture with thousands of revellers flocking through its doors each and every weekend. Open most nights of the week, the venue played host to a range of music policies with every style of dance music, age bracket and type of clubber catered for by way of various themed promotions on different nights. A landmark in Portsmouth’s clubbing history; Time & Envy was for most, one of the most memorable clubbing experiences in the city, never bettered by its competitors.
Now, the spirit of the venue lives on for one night only at an official re-union. Taking place in Luminar Leisure’s luxurious five million pound, state of the art super club development Liquid & Envy; located on Stanhope Road in the centre of the city; Time & Envy’s spirit, atmosphere, DJ's, music and fancy dress policies are being brought back for a night to remember.
In the main arena on the night will be one of Time & Envy’s longest running and much loved residents and driving force behind the re-union project – Mark Hatton, who works consistently through the companies biggest and best flagship venues as resident for a number of nights. Mark hosted many a Student Session, Thursday night and weekend session at Time continuing to be remembered to this day as one of it’s pioneers for both upfront house, dance, trance and peak time sets and that of classics, party and old skool Saturday night sessions. Mark will be bringing the essence of Time’s heyday back with him when he reprises his role on Liquid’s DJ console for the night.
Joining him, will be another of Luminar’s veteran residents – Paul Birdseye as he also re-invokes the classic sound of good old fashioned house music, reviving the sounds of some of the biggest anthems of Time’s history. Whilst up in Envy the original Envy, Images and 5th Avenue residents Swingsta and Jazz will be playing some retro R&B cuts and cool vibes to help jog your memory back to smooth summer nights spent down on the front!
To accompany this, Liquid have also brought back the original Time & Envy dancers, entertainers and foam cannons, so just to make sure you really experience the night like it was back in the day, then Beach Wear is advised whereby, shades, shorts, shirts and bikini’s are welcome, as the foam cannons and beach balls are unleashed, Time & Envy style!
