Fire It Up catches up with International DJ Preech

This article is about Goodgreef Meets Fire it Up! @ 53degrees in Preston (UK), Sat 12 Apr 2008

Fire It Up friend and international sensation DJ Preach has recently signed over to the UK’s leading DJ agency PFA.

How would you describe the Preach sound?
I would say it’s a little bit of everything, progressive, electro, techno and trance. And not to forget the “phat” kicks and bass!

Who have been your main musical influences?
Depeche Mode & Kraftwerk were my first influences, ever since my sister introduced me to this music when I was a kid, since then I decided to collect vinyl, learn how to play at my friend’s basement until I got the chance to get my own turntables and start on my own, since then the world became my oyster!

If you had to be stuck on a desert island with five objects, what would they be and why?I would have to say any sort of musical instrument and music player would be one of them! My gym equipment which I am addicted to and of course my PSP! ;)

What is your favourite ever set you have played?
It’s hard to name one, as they surpass each other every time I play somewhere.
Some of the best sets would be at Bal En Blanc in Montreal, the Beatbox parties in Portugal, and lately the Goodgreef events have blown me away!

How does the Fire It Up sound compare with your own?
I think part of the reason why Fire It Up is related to my sound is the fact that we are working together. The tech-trance, melodic edginess combined with a bit of commercial is something I have been supporting from the beginning. Fire It Up seems to be a good base to grow this sound.

Outside music how do you spend your spare time?
Mostly with my sweet wife! Especially that we are expecting. The rest would be at the gym or tasting wine in the lovely Moravia region of the Czech Republic.

Where did the name Preach hail from?
It is a little bit obvious; Preaching in any religion would mean to spread a certain message. Same goes for music, it is literally my passion, my life, and therefore it made sense for me to use this name. In fact a lot of my friends call me Preach! :)

If you were a super hero who would you be?
It’s hard not say Superman, as he can do whatever he wants and he has most of the other superhero’s powers ;)

What can people expect to hear from your up coming set at Fire It Up?
For those who attended Goodgreef @ Tall Trees or heard about it will know exactly how energetic it is going to be! I have a lot of new material lined up for the next events, a lot of reworks I’ve done from commercial to underground, especially the new remix of my 2007 release “Broken Inside”.

Techno or Trance?
There are few djs left on this earth who play only one genre of music, all types of music have melted together, it’s really hard to see one survive without the other. I would say Tech-Trance!:D
