Fuck the DJMag poll...
The Resident Advisor 2009 end of year poll is upon us. It's what the DJMag poll would be like if trance didn't exist! Techno, house, disco, dubstep and everything in between.

Not to repeat myself and not particularly being a trance fan, I hope there are no green eyed monsters at play, discuss?

I am intrigued by this thread, musical snobbery at its very finest.

everyone here seems to agree with me though (except zag!)

being a fan of underground music it's nice to see a poll of underground artists and lesser known music styles getting a look in. and it's voted for by genuine music lovers rather than just anybody with a computer.

music snobbery exists. people will always have opinions that others disagree with. it promotes individuality and expression. i've heard enough people badmouth dubstep, drum n bass, techno, garage and hip hop, all of which i listen to on a regular basis. i appreciate that people like trance music but i don't see the appeal. it's too predictable and in your face with all that laser wooshy nonsense and i might go as far to say it's shit. but that's the good thing about opinions.

fuck the dj mag top 100

Are you implying that there is something wrong with music snobbery?!

I am proud to be a snob :-)

NEW everyone here seems to agree with me though (except zag!)

I listen to all types of music, always have done. Trance has had its day production wise but I still hear an amazing tune every so often. Still grab Armins Radio every Thursday night. I mostly listen to Rock and Indie stuff these days at home when I'm kicking back.

Eclectic tastes are best :)

When you talk about underground music its very easy to forget that 95% of the population will think its absolute crap if they were dumped in a club accidentally. Spending too much time on any kind of music will make you think certain tunes are better than they actually are, its called tunnel vision :)

Quite possibly but is there any evidence that this is the case?

Why Deadmau5? I am in awe of his self-marketing abilities, but musically though he is very very good, is he really up there with Ricardo and Craig, etc? Please enlighten me on your thoughts :-)

Hmm Deadmau5............

I'm sure he'd be in my top 5 had I managed to get out the apartment and actually walk the mammoth 5 minute trek to Space Opening.

In my opinion he's pretty muchy obviously the worlds No1 DJ.

Even my mum's other half raves about him and he's about 55.....................the other half that is....not Deadmau5.............and not my other half either......my mums.

He is definitely the pop-star of dance music, I have no bad word to say about him at all

Why Deadmau5?

I was being Ironic there... Never Deadmau5 in my books :P

I think Marc Houle would be in the number 5 spot for me.

He is definitely the pop-star of dance music

I dont like pop stars
