Qudos has offically landed!
It's always hard to know how a new event is going to run, and I've been to a few launch nights in my time, but I can honestly say, Reading seems to have been waiting a long while for Qudos!

The venue is clean, staff friendly on the whole, good air con (even though a few hot moments when the dance floor got really busy), has a good dance floor area and have really made an effort to make the outside area a nice place to hang out and not just 'for the smokers' to do their thing.

Although some people who are local to Reading may think it has a bad reputation, this club is very strict on their door policy and this seemed to keep the riff raff out which made a big difference. NOTE: For future, EVERYONE MUST BRING SOME ID!!!

The night started with the two Sam's (Samsaman'i) doing their thing, fairly minimal, but quite dirty, this was then followed by a short Funky house PA from myself which changed the atmosphere to be leading onto the guys after me. Great sound system and no probs with mics etc which was good. After the PA, the Dirty cowboys and as a surprise for a few of us, Neil Pornstar was participating and this set really kicked off the night and filled the floor. They really lit up the room.

It seemed like not too long after that I came back for my second and final sing song for the evening with a couple of electro numbers of mine which I think went down well with the crowd and by the end, the floor was properly getting into the swing of things. I got to announce Miss Lisa Lashes was playing after me, and this set went down a storm.

Advertised as playing Tech Trance, I do feel Lisa did venture into harder territory, but as a fan myself, I was more than happy with this. All her usual fans were out in force and I'm sure she made many more that night.

During all the main room music, Toby and his co partner were djing in the garden & were getting the funky fans on their feet and even the rain didn't put too much of a dampener on things (mind the pun).

It was my first gig in a club since the smoking ban came in and it really made a big difference.

Lisa played some absolute classics & was keeping the fans happy. Who better to carry on the night than Tina Martin who also had the mammoth task of running the event!! This was the first time I've seen Tina play and she certainly managed to keep the floor full, even though some people were getting a little tired by this point. I didn't leave the dancefloor for the whole set and was in desperate need of a drink after that! A talented, happy and expressive dj who kept the dancefloor in uproar for the whole hour! (Video footage can back that up if I can get it on here ok!!) Definately be looking out to see her play again.

To end the evening, and although it's sometimes seen as the 'graveyard shift', you'd never have guessed when Jordan Suckley came on after Tina. Even though it was the wee small hours by this time, Jordan demonstrated immmense talent behind the decks and he is most definately a star of the future and I will be keeping a close eye for his sets. Think we are all sure that Jordan has a bright future ahead on this scene.

A fantastic night had by all and could not have expected or wanted more from an opening night.

I look forward to attending more of the now Bi monthly Qudos events that are to follow over the next year...

Thanks for having me down and a great job done by all involved!

xx
