This article is about EROTIQUE with Amber D'Amour @ Club Mango in Reading (UK), Fri 01 Jun 2007

AMBER D

Amber D is one of the hottest female DJs in the world right now. In the hard dance scene she is one of the biggest names regardless of sex. As Amber D’Amour, her electro alter ego, she is beginning to create the same kinds of waves in the world of electro. Fierce, feisty and with the right amount of attitude, her natural talent, ambition and sheer hard work and determination have seen her rise through the ranks from new starlet to Mixmag Future Hero to out and out headliner and scene A lister. As one of very few DJ’s ever to get the chance to do a Live Essential Mix on Radio 1, you can see why she is held in such high regard by her fans.

Over the course of 2006 she headlined at every major dance nights in the country, including Sundissential, Polysexual, Slinky, Frantic, tidy vs Extreme Euphoria, the massive tidy Weekender events, GodsKitchen, Parlez Vous, Storm, Tall Trees and many more. Festivals are also a major part of Amber’s summer diary, including Global Gathering, Creamfields and Escape Into The Park. In Ibiza Amber was the most booked DJ to play at the massive tidy vs Extreme Euphoria parties at the legendary Es Paradis. She’s also toured the world from Australia, Canada to Dubai and Sweden.

No one-trick pony, classically trained pianist Amber also has a BTEC National Diploma in Music Technology. When she said she was taking her significant talent into the production arena this year the scene held its collective breath. She came out of the studio with an absolutely storming double EP that reached the top of every single hard dance chart and dominated the clubs over the summer.

Now moving through into the summer of 2007, she’s already mixed the Tidy Weekender 11 Live album, has wowed critics with her unbelievable London electro debut as Amber D’Amour at Sin, and is currently in the studio recording two brand new electro tracks which will be forthcoming on her own label, D’Amour Recordings www.damourrecordings.com.

She’s graced every top venue, from Ministry of Sound, Heaven, Turnmills and the Brixton Academy in London to Air in Birmingham, The Arches in Glasgow, The Tunnel in Aberdeen, The Coach in Northern Ireland and hundreds more in between. Internationally Amber’s toured extensively across Australia, Ireland, Ibiza, Norway, Canada, Dubai, Mexico and South Africa
The highly talented Amber has an undeniable gift behind the decks, and her stunning looks, good nature and endless enthusiasm for dance music have put the world at her feet at just 24 years of age.

TIMO GARCIA

2007 got off to a flying start for Timo with one signing to Cr2 Digital and another to Toolroom Records. Two more of his productions are soon to be released on Italian imprint Cosmonote Blue and a couple of his remixes will soon appear on Whoop! and Twisted Frequency. Timo also feels very honoured to have been asked to record the first Digital Blueprint DJ mix compilation to go on sale on www.djdownload.com.

Starting off at the age of 16 promoting nights in the UK he then moved onwards and upwards with a two year residency in Paris, mixing with the likes of Serge Papo, Pascal R, Christophe Monier, Eric Rug, Housatonic, Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel. Vive la France!

At 21 Timo then moved to Leeds where for 3 yrs he mixed in various venues including, The Warehouse, The Music Factory (RIP), and The Faversham promoting the fresh sounds of French Disco House.
Back to the London area when in 1998 he teamed up with Barcelona born Alvaro Garcia they began producing a unique style of house music, a new concept was born and with it the name Timo Garcia. Although Alvaro Garcia has since left for the sunnier climate of Seville to raise a family, Timo continues to produce and DJ under the guise of Timo Garcia. Turning pro at the end of 2002 was the obvious direction to take as production & DJing became a lifestyle as well as his passion.

Over the summer of 2005 Timo launched his new label Berwick Street Records, with his own debut release at the Helm. The massive first release ‘Into the Light’ saw great support from the likes of Steve Lawler and Tom Stephan with radio plays from Kiss to House fm. DISCOTECH was the 2nd release on his label. This received massive support from Judge Jules on his Radio 1 and not only did it reach number 32 in the DJ hype charts but was also named as The Essential New Tune on Pete Tongs Radio 1 Essential Selection. His third release ‘Just Get Over It’ featured the amazing vocals of Nika Boon which also received great support from all the worlds top DJs as well as being licensed to Tall Paul’s compilation ‘The Beat Technique’ released in autumn last year. The forth offering on his label, the aptly named Drop EP has been played from the Ibiza Space Terrace opening party by Steve Lawler all the way to Serbia’s Exit festival where Layo and Bushwacka played it to a 20,000 strong crowd as well as featuring on the Bora Bora compilation last summer. After the Drop EP came the Squeal EP which was again supported by many of the worlds top flight DJs across the globe as well as being used on Claude Von Strokes Mixmag cover mount CD mix. The next release to come out on Timo’s label was the Berwick Street Sessions Vol 1 EP, a four track collaboration project which raised interest from a variety of DJs from John Aquaviva to Tom Middleton and Louie Vega (MAW). Then came the highly acclaimed D DUB - Genesis release on Berwick Street Records which DJ Mag awarded a 5/5 Money Shot review for stating that it was "Impossible to pick between the original, Timo Garcia or Audiofly mixes (all excellent)".

Timo's latest collaborative project sees him team up with international heavyweight Ricky Stone who was recently voted number 40 DJ in the world DJ Mag rankings! The guys got together when Ricky was over from Hong Kong in London for the DJ mag awards at Fabric and got busy working in the studio. Their first track 'Control The Universe' went out on Berwick promo and was immediately snapped up by Cr2 Digital to be released at this years WMC. They have since been back in the studio and are about to unleash their massive double AA sided follow up called "Piston The Wagon" and "Rattlesnake" both monsters with a D DUB remix on Rattlensnake which will appeal to the big prog boys! This will be the 10th release for Berwick Street Records and will come out on the 2nd Birthday on July 16th 2007. To celebrate their 2nd Birthday Berwick Street Records will be throwing the mama of all party’s at the Egg for Abstract on Saturday 14th July. With a rare and exclusive Back 2 Back DJ set from Timo Garcia & Ricky Stone and Brad 212 Finlay warming up the proceedings and D DUB bringing the show to a close its going to be one heck of a birthday party!

Looking forward also to a very busy summer schedule with gigs booked in Latvia, Ibiza & Colombia with a tour of Asia being planned for the end of the year. When he’s not working on his new projects & remixes locked away in his east London studio Timo can be caught spinning at some of London’s best clubs. With a residency at the Cross in London & hosting monthly Berwick nights at the Egg he does various guest slots at Turnmills, Circoloco @ Pacha & the Cross, Ministry of Sound, Egg & Herbal amongst many others.

That’s when he’s not tripping off round the globe keeping up with his international gig commitments…
