Lunar Launch - The Review
Just wanted to say a MAHUUSIVE thanks to everyone who made it down to the Lunar Launch on Boxing Day, it really would not have been the success it was without the support and help from our friends.

We had no idea town would be so dead!! So you can imagine our horror when we took to the streets to go flyering on the night and found there really was no one to flyer and promote to! Most of the bars and resteraunts were shut, so we really feared the worst.

However whatever people we did find we got chatting to - including some of the local doorman and barmen - and sure enough the numbers picked up. We had a good group of the BOA faithful down as well as a couple of big groups from Wokingham and Oxford, and a few familiar Mango regular faces who collectively, created the perfect atmosphere for the launch.

The club looked beautiful, we had spent literally hours on Tuesday taping up the drapes, hanging up the stars, sticking moons and planets everywhere. Big thanks to James for the lighting - the lasers completed the effect of light bouncing off every sparkle - just to see people's faces when they first entered the club made all the effort truly worth it.

The VIP room both looked the part and served it's purpose, to act as an intergalactic retreat and reception area for us to meet and greet the first arrivals. Thanks for the positive feedback re the projector - this is going to be a regular feature for the Lunar parties.

Music-wise - the busiest part of the club for the majority of the night was the dancefloor; testimonial in itself that we succeeded in launching a night which encapsulates the freshest, intelligent most addictive sounds of tech house and techno inspired from the white isle - something close to our hearts that we wanted to share with the rest of Mango.

I made sure I was in the midst of things as much as possible, talking to people to get an idea of what they thought. There was a group of lads from Oxford who had never heard this sort of music before - however they loved it! They would not stop dancing, all commented on how great the club looked and how friendly everyone was.

Similarly we had a big group out from Wokingham who all agreed the music was spot on. Even one of the doorman was asking who the DJ's were and asked for a CD! So thanks to our resident Lunar Cosmonaut DJ's for putting on an awesome launch party, and for giving everyone a taste of what to expect from forth coming Lunar events.

We wanted to show case the raw talent, expertise and passion for this sort of music we share, as well as demonstrating the variation that tech house and techno has to offer. This is what Lunar has started out as and will always remain true to. We refuse to be another night to drop and change their whole concept just to try and stay popular with whatever they think is new on the scene, when really they have no clue about the true meaning behind it. With continued support, a lot of love and a bit of nurturing, Lunar is here to stay and hopefully join Mango's other long-standing regular events.

So thanks again for coming down, if you didn't make it we look forward to having you there for the next party - the Lunar Full Moon Party on Friday January 16th. Don't forget the 2 comps we are running, the DJ comp and the Cosmo cocktail comp. Closing dates for both are Tuesday 13th January.

xx

PS - Look out for interviews with our ressie DJ's coming soon on the BOA homepage too, where we get up close and personal.... ;)
