The venue has undergone a three month overhaul and is unrecognisable from the old Fez club. The hotel-style entrance with exposed brickwork leads through to Sakura’s dining area, with intimate seating booths and bespoke Dupion silk Chandeliers. The ground floor hosts the Sakura Bar; a 10m polished natural stone bar with a giant ceiling-height fish tank. The first floor is Twisted Tokyo, where a similarly stunning bar runs along one wall, with four luscious 15 seat booths separated by shimmer screens. The centerpiece is the 54-square illuminated LED dancefloor – meaning that spending your Saturday night dancing at Sakura feels like starring in a Justin Timberlake video. Upstairs is the VIP Opium Lounge. Suspended above the main floor, allowing customers to look onto the dancefloor through the glazed wall, it features five intimate leather clad booths plus the authentic ‘Directors Table’, imported specially from China and seating 14. Table service provides the best cocktails and drinks direct to the table throughout the night. The final touch is the roof terrace, Hojo. Timber seating booths allow customers to enjoy a cocktail under the stars, as well as being a welcome change for those wishing to enjoy a quick cigarette from the usual “huddle on the pavement” offered by most venues. But it’s not all style and no substance. The soundsystem is a DJ’s dream, featuring state-of-the-art equipment from Martin Audio who combine world class loudspeaker systems with a cutting edge design philosophy. All of the bars throughout the venue feature Reading’s most extensive product range for the discerning drinker.
