This time it's The Boy Dubz that tracks down Raw Elements finest Dj SC@R for a bit of a chin-wag!!!

This article is about VINYL PERVERSION EVENT II @ The Face Bar in Reading (UK), Sat 11 Jul

G'day to the Lady Sc@r (like what I did there!) I hope we find you well?

I’m great thanks mate.

Thank you for finding the time to sit down and have an interview with us, I want to ask you some slightly different questions from the usual Dj Interview. So here goes:

1. What was the first ever rave you went to?

Utopia, May 2000 at the Sydney Super Dome with ten thousand other ravers! It was amazing and was a life changing experience.

2. Can you tell us a little bit about the Australian Hardcore scene and how it differs from the UK scene?

The Australian scene has changed a lot since I moved to the UK 5 years ago though I go back regularly and keep up to date with what’s happening down under. I’d say the main difference is there are ‘pockets of hardcore’, there isn’t a rave on every weekend that’s in driving distance but are scenes found in the major cites like Sydney, Brisbane and I’ve heard the Perth scene is the place to be partying now. There is some amazing talent coming out of OZ now, be sure to look up Haze from Executive Records, S3rl, Weaver, Cotts and Ravine who are putting the Aussies on the hardcore map.

3. You have played throughout the UK and Globally. This includes Australia, Belgium, Canada and recently Spain. Are there any bookings that stand out head and shoulders above the rest?

That’s really hard to answer. My favourite parties to play for are Raindance, History Of Hardcore and Fusion. The one which springs to mind is having the opportunity to DJ at the very last World Electronic Music Festival (WEMF) in Canada 2008. It was 3 day out door camping festival, there’s plenty of interesting YouTube videos up but the only comment I need to say is ‘I’ve been WEMF’D’ .

4. How did you get into Dj'ing and how did this lead you to producing your own tunes?

I got my first gig before I could mix (woops don’t tell them I said that!) and learned to mix vinyl in three weeks. I originally thought I would love to just give it ago but 3 half years later I’m still here. We can all blame my partner in crime Dj Uplift for supporting me along the way and being my backbone.

Growing up I played the piano for 12 years. The minute I started Djing I knew I wanted to be able to produce my own music and actually put some of those music lessons to good use. Thanks mum!

5. Talking of Dj'ing, we recently invited you to jump on board as resident at Vinyl Perversion, so welcome along! Thanks!

Can you tell us how playing somewhere small like VP or Totally 'Ardcore compare to playing somewhere like HTID In The Sun, Hardcore Heaven, Fusion, Raindance or Uproar ?

I absolutely love small parties! I always have. I love the intimate vibe in the rooms and the smaller parties are always a good opportunity to listen to up and coming Djs and Mcs.

5. We know your plate was pretty full last year and it seems that things really are starting to happen for you this year, what with a Hardcore Heaven Best Breakthrough DJ nomination, some tracks forthcoming to be released and bookings all over the place. What can we expect to see happening in the world of Sc@r in the near future?

Hopefully more Sc@r! heehee. I have a few more international bookings in the diary for New York, Arizona and Australia, but mainly I’ve been working extremely hard in the studio. There’s more tracks in the pipeline for Raw Elements and at the end of Summer, the new ‘Lethal Thoery Raw’ label releases two of my tracks, in which one I teamed up with Miss Special K on. Exciting times!

6. 2009 also sees the start of your new event, The Powder Room. It's really good to finally have an ambassador for all the female Hardcore Dj's and Mc's out there, so tell us your thoughts on what’s been happening recently and what's to come over the next year or so?

I’m really excited to be launching The Powder Room, which is also a regular article in CORE magazine. Over the past year that I have been working on the articles and been in touch with most of the ladies in the scene, and its great to see more girls taking to the decks or picking up the mic. The Powder Room parties will be a night we all can all meet up, let our hair down and have a jam together (maybe some pillow fights or a mud fight if that pulls in the ravers – just kidding)

7. Along with all the bookings and studio time, we know you have at least 3 resident sets on radio shows both online and on the Fm dial in London. What do the radio slots do for you and honestly how do you find time to fit it all in?

I’ve been apart of Eruption 101.3fm and History of Hardcore for the past 3 years and Krafty Radio for 2. I’ve made some great friends and look forward to my evening live mixes, I wouldn’t give them up for the world.

I’m also a registered full time nurse and I enjoy every minute of it, though there have been times I’ve nearly slept through my radio shows after night shifts. Big up to Shireen from Krafty for her wake up phone calls!

8. We've seen recently, to your credit, quite a few of your tracks popping up on various compilation Hardcore albums. Are there any future projects popping up in the future for yourself or Raw Elements?

This year so far I’ve had tracks on Hardcore Underground, 100 Hardcore Anthems, Hardcore Addiction 2 and Crush on Hardcore 4. I’ve been given news we have 2 more tracks on another forthcoming album but I’m not allowed to reveal it yet. The main projects are to keep pushing our vinyl and Mp3 releases for Raw Elements, launching our new digital label, a clothing range and a fresh new website.

9 . Along with yourself, this years Hardcore Heaven's Best Breakthrough Dj award sees probably one of the strongest line-ups for nominees to date (so well done you, fingers crossed!) Who do you expect to win and are there any up n coming Dj's out there, that you see on their way to a nomination at the awards for 2010?

I was quite stunned to be honest to appear on the awards list for this year. There are some very talented and hard working Djs/Producers and Mcs out there at the moment. I would love to see Stylus and Audio Junkie go really far, they have truly broken into the scene out of nowhere with their own productions and perform a great show as well.

10. Is there anything else you'd like to add? (chance for a shameless plug here!)

Come to Vinyl Perversion on the 11th in Reading! It will be a top quality rave as always with headliners, International Dj and a top selection of local performers. All the details are plastered all over the internet and flyers have hit the streets already.

11. And for the ravers?

Thanks for all the support and keep the good times rolling.
