Surely if it's by the same people who brought SOS to us then in my opinion it coul dbe the biggest pile of shite going, just like the hell hole that is source of sound in Tonbridge, please correct me if i am wrong on this occasion.

Andy, I can kinda see what you're saying, and I hate to disagree with you, but having chatted to this guy a bit on here (and maybe being a bit biased cos I love garage and hip hop just as much as I love hard dance), I think that there is a difference between what he's doing and what every commercial meat market in the country seems to be doing. That is, he's more into the underground garage/rnb stuff (that they don't play in the commercial clubs much), rather than being out to promote a night playing Rihanna and the Black Eyed Peas all night long. Same as to your average garage/hip hop head, saying we played trance and hardcore at our night would have led to them thinking of DJ Sammy and Ultrabeat all night...

Yeah, it may not be revolutionary (being oldskool, by definition it's been done before), but if it leads to revolutionary stuff happening, like people having their minds opened to even more underground forms of garage such as grime and dubstep, and then to stuff like breaks and techno, and a shitload of wicked nights springing up (unlikely, but it could happen), then surely this can only be a good thing...:-)

Saying all this though, you're right, he should have come back with some kind of constructive comment rather than just slagging you off...but I do reckon he's different to your average Beluga/Davs style promoter, despite surface appearances...

Anyways, rambling over, laterz...
Shift-e.

(Also, Andy, you ever get round to doing that list of vinyl you had for sale?) :-)

Fair enough, your bad, my bad. It was the heat of the moment, and I am sorry once again. For a start, when was the last time a place in Tun Wells played garage? Not in recent years anyway...Ive marketed and gained feedback from many many people aged 17-23 in the town, and alot of people would like to hear garage, you know, the stuff that they grew up listening to when they were 13-17 etc.

I am welcome any help if you are interested, and you have to admit, El Mono has not been packed for a long time, probably since last summer when it was Coco Lounge. The promotion that me and two other guys are doing is so different to what you normally see around here and we believe we can change things...if people let us. Thats the problem around here, no one does anything about it...people miss the old tuesday nights for example at the Litten Tree. The town in general has gone dead, Beluga is too expensive and even that is dying down Ive noticed.

Look, once again, I am sorry as it was heat of the moment...I just hope what I have in mind really does take off as I have listened to what people want, plus I know what people want having been to many other clubs around the south east. Out of all the towns, Tun Wells is the worst...we want to change that and make one night during the week the main attraction like Tuesday nights back in the day.

Its all down to business chat now with El Mono, but we are still gaining feedback and responses from the punter in Tun Wells at present.

Dunno if that post was addressed at me or someone else, but yeah, I think your idea could work like I said above, and I think it would be wicked to have a garage night round here, the rest of Kent's got some wicked garage nights, I've promoted garage nights before (not round here, up north) and know that people still love it, and like I said I'm up for helping you out, hooking you up a couple of "name" DJs etc. Anyways, hope you sort this out, even if you don't need my help I'll still be down the front with my crew if this happens...:-)

yea i totally see that point, its hard converting the masses when stoopid "best of" & "beginers guide to..." complilations are the first contact most people get with new/different genres.

And as we know from Insurgence reaction can vary, music is very ficle.

no worries dude, no harm done, I should be more positive having tried to do something different in the past lol, I hope for your sake and the sake of the town that the night goes off in the best possible way

* cough* yeah man, when it was Speed Garage it was wicked. The time I was around 18. A good 9 years ago no. Now that stuff was wicked. Before it turned into UK Garage *cough*

Beluga is too expensive
£4.50 for a pint of lager. Are you totally off your nut??? That place is a joke. The Pitcher & Piano has a license till 3 now so i think they're getting all the punters...

Ah but isn't it time to move with the times? Introduca a bit of something different! At the end of the day, anyone that dances to garage will go for anything with a hard beat!

Yeah man, the speed garage scene's still going strong up north in places like Birmingham and Sheffield. It's kinda strongly linked to the hard dance scene as well up there, with stuff like "Speedissential", so I reckon people will go for the speed garage sound with harder stuff, but maybe not the funkier, more 2 step orientated end of the scene with harder stuff...

Hmmmm...Shift-e nuskool speed garage set should Insurgence ever return, anyone? :-P

Well if there's one thing dance music needs, it's certainly another genre lol
