Creamfields 2008 (Saturday) @ Daresbury Estate in Runcorn (UK)
This Sat (23 Aug)
Ferry Corsten is one of the most successful DJs and producers of our time and is a Creamfields veteran. This year he embarks to celebrate 10 years of Creamfields with us, whilst also being our exclusive resident at Cream Amnesia summer 2008!
Ferry has given us a little insite into his Creamfields experiences and what he’s up to at the moment! But first check out a bit of Ferry in action!
What do you think marks Creamfields, out as different from all the rest? Creamfields is the only festival in the UK that brings consistent quality for 10 years.
What has 2008 got in store for you? At the moment I am busy working in the studio on my new artist album. I also will be hosting the second edition of Full on Ferry on November 1 in Ahoy’ Rotterdam.
Are you working in the studio in the moment? If so tell us about any forthcoming releases? My new artist album will be released at the end of 2008, so I am currently working very hard in the studio to finish it.
What are your top 3 festival essentials?Sunny weather, fresh quality tunes and good old classics ?
What advice would you have for anyone starting out?Sounds cliché, but work hard and always believe in yourself. And don’t think after one rejection that that’s the end, but keep on trying.
If you weren’t a DJ what would you be doing? Producing music ?
The scene has changed over the years, in what ways do you see the differences?Because of the relatively cheap software it’s easy for a lot more people to produce music and be part of the scene in a more intensive way. Because of this a lot more talent will get the chance to release their music and get the attention they deserve. On the other hand it’s harder and harder to find the real gems. I can really see that the scene worldwide has improved in the sense of professionalism and quality in the productions at festivals and clubs.
Some people get a buzz out of the audience dancing or clapping along to their set, what gives you your buzz when you perform?Looking over the audience and knowing/telling from the smiles on their faces that they are really enjoying the music and themselves.
Who are you most looking forward to seeing at this years Creamfields? And can you give us your top tips on who you think is going to be hot at this year’s festival?I wish I could see some of the acts on the (yet again, great job guys!) incredible line up, but most likely I will just be there for my DJ set.
Will you be dropping any surprises in your set this year? Well, it wouldn’t be a surprise anymore if I tell you now right?
After a decade of Creamfields, what are your memories of the festival? A couple of years ago the Cream tent had, instead of a stage with a DJ booth, a catwalk and a DJ booth. So it was possible for me as a DJ to walk over this catwalk to the crowd and be in the middle of the party. That was awesome!
Do you find there is a difference when performing in front of a northern crowd?I must honestly say that the more northern you go in the UK, the crazier the crowd gets. They really attend these festivals with some sort of ferociousness in the positive sense of the word.
What’s the best thing about festivals? I love the size of the crowd and its energy!
What’s the worst thing about festivals? The mud….and stinky Dixie toilets ;)
Do you have any plans to play new material at Creamfields or is that under-wraps until Showtime begins? I might test a few new tunes that night, so keep your ears open for something unfamiliar.
Sum up Creamfields in 5 words?Creamfields festival completes the summer!
