Nice Idea but....
Its nice to see some big names being brought over to the Island at a decent sized arena also, however it never fails to grate me the fact that when people do do this sort of thing they show no respect for the Local Talent and getting some Local Names in there to boot. ah well such as life heh!!

Hope it goes well guys!

I agree mate - Haven't seen any flyers or marketing either apart from the post on here.

Seems a shame too cos it looks like a lot of work is going into it!

Hope it goes well for em tho!

Btw Mikey - Aren't you a bit old to be joining the Army . . . ? pmsl!

Yea I now live in SOuthampton but was brought up on the Isle of Wight and have been a part of the clubbing scene on the Island since about 1996 and have been on the DJ circuit down there since 1998 so it holds alot of good memories for me down there and things like this just dont make sense to me! As Omar said he doesnt feel that much promotion has been done for it, well then maybe if they bothered asking Island jocks then they may have been able to drum up some decent local support and flyering teams that way, understand?! However maybe they're just hoping people will travel over from the "Mainland" for this one event, but again if they'd done their home work maybe they wuld understand that this would only really be worth it if there was a 6am License due to ferry times etc etc?! Ive run many a night on the Island and know first hand how difficult it is to attract people over from the "mainland" due to the ferries and the cost etc, just as ANY Promoters on the Island will understand. A little local support & home work will go a long way!

However as I have said I hope it does go off and people have a storming night, I just cant see it thats all, which would be a shame due to the amount of money that will have to be going into this event!!

Btw Mikey - Aren't you a bit old to be joining the Army . . . ? pmsl

No mate ya never too old to do ya bit for ya Queen and Country are ya?! ;)

Maybe it's a bit late but maybe you guys should contact the promoters and give them some of the above advice?

I hear ya Dave but, Again, Mikey has said it all and I'm playing elsewhere on the 30th anyway but I'm sure they will have seen this post so would be aware of the comments - In all fairness, you can't attract a lineup like that unless you know what you're doing and they seem to, but within days of the Bestival and very little Island promotion, I think they may struggle to get the 1500 + in the Arena to create the right vibe - Its just my opinion!

Thank you for the current feedback you have given, the night is being run as a joint initiative of the arena group (the company that owns the arena) and classique (the brand run by paul morrell usually based in the west midlands at another arena group venue). Obviously the Classique boys are not new at this thing and also neither are the guys from the Arena Group.
We are not just targeting mainland residents, there is to be a little bit of promotion starting this week the other side of the water but the promotion teams will be down from the west midlands this week to hit the Island hard. There are press releases gone out this week as well as competitions to win tickets. For anyone coming from the mainland (because of travel) or even islanders, we would also like to point out we are one of the only places on the island to have a 24 hour license and the event does in fact go on till 6am (how else would we fit in so many DJs). As to the matter of hosting local talent, if it was proven to be cost effective and run by a local company/brand that we knew could do such a night it would not be a problem but we have had local promoters in the past that have tried to run gigs and failed in selling any tickets which we as a group would not like to take the risk. We would be more than willing to talk to promoters who think they could host an event as mentioned above and make it a success.

Hey Paul and you guys at the Arena.

Paul I can safely say Ive never had a message from yourself. However I wasnt slating the fact of what your doing and in fact I did also say I hope the event goes well as quite clearly there's alot of money at stake here. Im not a Promoter so you're definatly not treading on my toes in any way shape or form.

My main point was that there hasnt been any look in for any Island DJ's, of which I do not class myself any longer, however there is ALOT of HIGH Quality DJs on the IOW who I am sure would have been helping spread the word of this night long ago! The line up is a TOP line up ANYWHERE let alone for the IOW!

I understand Planet Ice may have a 24 hour license however it does not promote this on the posts so far just saying "Til Late" I have seen MANY flyers say this only for the night to close at 1am or 2am. If the parties staying open til 6am ADVERTISE this fact, its going to help you guys pull in numbers surely?! But im sure you dont need me telling you that?!

Anyways like I said I hope all goes well I really do, I just have strong feelings when home grown talent gets over looked as it always seems to on the IOW. there's ALOT there why not capitalize on that and use them?!

I agree with you Mikey it would have been wicked to have some of us Island boys playing too. Perhaps they should have had a local talent room in the Raiders bar or something like Fantasy island used to do.

Does look like a good party if they can fill the arena it will be cool.

Catch up soon soldier!

well maybe instead of moaning (LOL) you should all come down make it a stomping night, everyone have an awsome time and make it a real hit and then the guys running it which they have already said they will do involve us islanders next time. I do see what mikey and that are saying but we have enough stuff going on here especially recently with island boys so its nice to have some big names come over for a change xx xx

p.s how are you mikey seems like ages since i've spoken to you, what you been up to?

I hope you have a good turn out Paul - The Isle of Wight is sometimes a difficult place to promote but that is the biggest lineup for a dance night that has ever been staged as far as I can remember ( Festivals not included! ) so it should in theory be a bigger pull than the FI events.

I saw some flyers last night and they look very good - This thread isn't a negative one, just some observations on a local level and at least it has opened up a dialogue between the Island Clubbers / DJ's and yourself which has got people taking about the event so its def not a bad thing - Its all publicity!

Yeah I saw some flyers lastnight too Paul so they have started doing the rounds and as Omar has said I do hope the event goes well for you as a line up like that can not be cheap whatsoever.

Paul if you need any help with suggestions for Island Jocks, whatever style, then I can definatly make some very worthwhile suggestions
