This article is about Wild Coyote Bar in Scunthorpe (UK)
Years ago it was a thriving town, steelworks took most of the workforce, shops were good there was plenty of good night life and people had plenty of money to spend.
Then closures started, people were finding it hard pubs and clubs were suffering along with other businesses.
The Parkinson Arms was one of the Scunthorpe venues that started to struggle and eventually closed its doors for nearly a year.
Then local businessman Bob Riach came up with an idea. after visiting bars in Spain and elsewhere in England to see how they operated, Coyote bars with dancing bar staff have sprung up all over the world since the release of the 2000 movie Coyote Ugly, starring John Goodman and LeAnn Rimes. But would it work in Scunthorpe?
Bob and his business partner Sunnie Miah decided to give it a try, and started from scratch remodelling the Parkinson Arms and changing its name to the Wild Coyote Bar. "We have been getting a lot of good vibes about the venue and everybody seems to think it is a great idea."
The first weekend the business partners were overwhelmed with the interest in the new venture, the atmosphere was electric and it was one heck of a party on the first week, they didn’t think they could top that, but it was even better the following week. The staff love it, the customers love it and they join in with everything, dancing too. The DJ’s keep the atmosphere going.
Newly-appointed manager Bev Cooper said: "Scunthorpe needs something different for entertainment. We intend to have a happy party atmosphere and want to put some fun back into nights out."
The Wild Coyote Bar will trade until 1am on Fridays and Saturdays and until midnight the rest of the week.
The Mary Street building was originally opened as the Devon Hotel in 1954, but in 1966 was turned into the Parkinson Arms by former lay preacher Frank Barlow and his family.
It was later sold to Whitbread Brewery and then Enterprise Inns.
Three years ago, the-then operators shortened the name to Parkies
