we tried to find a high spot above sheffield city centre but

cant you go up to where the royal victoria hotel is? that should give you another decent shot

near ponds forge - its a holiday inn hotel i think, it gives a good view down to the city

trespass isn't a criminal offence, (it's a civil offence), as long as you don't damage anything, you can go where you like i.e fire escapes up the roof with a view, all they can do is ask you to leave.
