bastard jobsworth doormen
i'd heard the radio adverts for embrace, and i wanted to experience it myself...

i got as far as the door because hitler in a black suit decided i was "intoxicated"...

duh! isn't that the point of a friday night???

i'd had a few drinks, i'll admit, but i wasn't intoxicated. i could have passed a roadside sobriety test. i was steady on my feet and coherent. if i was too pissed-up to get in, i wouldn't have been able to remember it at 8am the morning after...and my hangover would rule out staring at my screen to write this review.

thanks for spoiling my night out you jobsworth fuckwit. no wonder there wasn't a queue to get in. if that is embrace's door policy, it'll be out of business within a month.

bring back kingdom. fuck embrace.

Guys, all you need to do to gain entry to the venue is make sure you're dressed appropriately (not chavvy i.e in your dad shoes and shirt, no sportswear, no boots, no attitude, no chunky chains, rings etc) not come down drunk and bring your passport or driving lisence (even if you dont think you look under age, we might, so to be on the safe side bring ID with you)

Hope to see you in there soon!

im confused as to why you are getting upset - there are many other places i would much rather go than embrace.

the doorstaff they had before when it was kingdom were fine. they were polite and i never had any complaints with them at all. the new doormen are complete knobs. we've had a bit of experience of one or more of them being arseholes for no real reason a few times now including this weekend. no nobody was causing any trouble on any of the weeks this has happened, tho the bouncers seem to think it is some sort of offence to even speak. granted this weekend it was just the one being an idiot and the other we spoke to was actually quite polite. id list the occasions i have to complain about but id be here all week.

when people are going for a night out they expect to have a good time - not be screamed at and given uneccessary abuse by a hitler with a walkie talkie. i used to go to kingdom every week but now i dont unless im dragged there - id go so far as to say i actually hate the place now. My 3yr old has more manners than the staff here.

All of our doorstaff act in a professional manner, and understand how to handle innebriated customers, Sometimes while under the influence situations can seem a little distorted...i'm sorry to hear about your bad experiences with them, however they are there for your safety..sometimes the doorstaff simply don't have time to have a chat....
Cheers Guys!

In my experience, the only way to win back the custom of these unhappy customers is to offer them free entry/drinks vouchers at one of your nights.

Its the only way in my opinion.

Its inevitable that people have bad experiences, but its the way that venues handle their complaints that differentiate shit venues from excellent ones. Sort it Helen or they may be gone forever and I think you could do with the good PR!

it was not busy and no - none of us were drunk! i have even stated it was only the one of them we had a problem with on this most recent occasion, as i stated the other was perfectly polite about it all. Im not saying this out of some drunken ranting or hate for all doorstaff! do yourselves a favour and get the old doorstaff back or at least some who know how to conduct themselves. im sure my friends and i are just a few of many who do not want to set foot near that place at the moment.

as for the free entry/drinks comments not at all. we receive such offers regularly and id still rather pay into a decent club with a friendly atmosphere than tolerate this. being screamed at for nothing tends to put a bit of a downer on your night and sorry to say but this club just isnt worth the hassel for what it is. if you refuse to recognise the problem that is up to you but if you want to drive away customers then you're going the right way about it.

As far as i'm aware our doorstaff are a mix of old & new, and from other venues around sheffield...some even headhunted from other venues when we first re-opend....you are welcome to have your own opinions and have free choice of which venues you attend and as i am not aware of your situation i cannot comment, it is my experience in other venues that there's always the odd member of staff that lets a venue down and this sounds like may have been the case in your situation...

the only good door staff are the ones that worked crasher aswell this place has tried to turn around its old image to quickly and turned its bk on ppl that had a gr8 nyt there me and my mates drove up frm manchester every friday and saturday now we wont even consider it anymore. we never caused trouble in there and never had trouble. but when places start letting in gangs of lads the ones that stood to the right of the dj box every weekend and had fights they'd get chucked out and then ud see them the week after doin the same again...this place will always be known as MINGDOM in many eyes

To my dissapointment my mates decded we were gonna Embrace Fri night.

N yeh one of the door men tried getting me to take my top off at the door, was just the same top (zip up jumper) i wear anywhere else. . no name on it or anything.

Speaking to one of the staff inside about it later on and asked what the dress code was and he goes "F**K knows i think they make it up every time"

Ended up being a good night tho.

A student in sheffield i go out every wednesday, never have problems, if you dont have student ID you dont get in, simple as! But last saturday i went embrace with few mates, and one of my mates got told he wont get in with trainers! hmm now thats odd, when he text me i looked around and guess what!!!! half the people in there had trainers on! so i text him saying come back and try, and what do you know? he got in...with the same pair! so they sent him home for nothing really....was proper annoyed about that, don't really see the point!

it was a good night anyway, we have been refused from there a few times for being a lil spandangled... but if you get drunk while you are in there (that seems to be okay) £3.90 for a vk blue - not good :(
