Thursday 23rd of August at Embrace
I've just returned from a night out at Embrace tonight, and have to say I'm less than impressed. The fact that they were handed out free entry/drink flyers outside RSVP should have been enough of a hint. There was also no problem getting in, because it probably wasn't worth doing so and I'd certainly have been upset if I'd paid. Only one room seemed to be open (Decuba) and that wasn't very busy. They also seemed to have abandoned the door policy. A couple of months ago, we went there on a whim and weren't really dressed for it (couple of us in trainers and sports shirts) and so, as mentioned in the other post on here, we got turned away. Tonight the place seemed to be full of people in trainers and such and there seemed to be no queue or checks on the door at all. Seems the plan to rejuvenate the place has fallen by the wayside for the time being, so those of you who liked Kingdom will probably be happy. The music was all over the place too; I've never heard someone build the audience up with some classic trance tracks and then revert to playing slow r'n'b tracks again... most places build up towards the end of the night, while this was more like a school disco ending on a slow one.
Sorry if this is a little harsh, and maybe I just got a bad night. But, on this impression, I won't be going back in a hurry.
