How many superstar DJs does it take to change a lightbulb. We don’t care quite frankly. We’re more bothered about how many DJs it takes to make an UG Bank Holiday Special into a monstrous mega-rave. And after much soul-searching and debate, we plumped for four. But not just any four DJs. We’ve brought together four DJs, each a superstar in their own right, that are at the top of the game in four different musical genres.
First up is the mighty Marco Bailey, a man who is a living breathing testament to the fact that interesting things do (sometimes) come from Belgium. Discovered many moons ago by Carl Cox (who rates him so highly he signed him to his label twice) and collaborating with Adam Beyer, Umek, Ben Sims and more, Marco Bailey is one of the finest artists in techno right now. With incredible skills and a sound ranging across styles he believes in "no nonsense, just great music. Techno is pure energy." We think that he’s going to treat Sutra to one of those mindbending sets that goes down in UG folklore. Prepare to be blown away by a DJ at the top of his game.
Jon Carter has been such a fixture around the UK dance music scene in the last ten years, that you probably know all about him (and his personal life) and have already danced the night away to his joyous, banging sets on numerous occassions. If not, it’s about time you caught up. Emerging alongside fellow stars Fatboy Slim, The Chemical Brothers et al through Big Beat and it's aftermath, Carter has been a major player on the house scene ever since, tearing up clubs around the world with his uncompromising party-focused sets. We can't wait to get him back behind the UG decks.
Then drum'n'bass comes to Urban Gorilla in the shape of the legendary DJ Zinc, original super sharp shooter of DJ Hype’s Ganja Cru, plus 2Step breaks doyenne, Bingo Recordings head-honcho, and a DJ with untestable selection and crisp, slick skills. We rate Zinc up there with the very very best in the drum’n’bass game, as he uses his talent to bring together the hottest new tracks (and a few forgotten classics) with a musicality that’s sometimes lacking in the scene, whilst always keeping the dancefloor rocking. He’s gonna run the Fez Club raw.
Finally, representing the world of hip-hop and turntablism is DJ Blakey, who was marked out as one of this country's greatest ever scratch DJs when he won the UK DMC Championship 2004, and he hasn't stopped there. Now hosting his own show on Radio1Xtra, touring with Jurassic5, and throwing dnb as well as hip-hop into his mindblowing sets, he'll set jaws dropping as the floors rocking.

So that’s four headline DJs, bringing four different styles of music, and giving your ass four times the kicking of any normal UG. Turns out that maybe four was the magic number after all.
