Nestling behind the city’s stunning cathedral, Sola is one of Sheffield’s more unique bars. Beneath the huge glass roof, which is supported by barn-style beams, we have the bar and restaurant area. The styling? Well, think funky 70s canteen or, to put it slightly more cruelly, how people in 1960 might have imagined a bar would look in the year 2005. There’s pre-formed plastic chairs, chocolate and orange retro wall art running the length of the wall opposite the bar and an equally long "let’s make friends" leather couch beneath it. The music is chilled, the menu Modern English/Continental and the prices are very good. To top it all off there’s an award-winning cocktail list.
